I will be taking my daughter hunting for the first time in Youth Season this year, and was wondering how soon I should set up the ground blind?? I already have a double ladder stand ready. Youth Season isn't until October 20th, and I hate to leave the blind out in the weather too long. Is 2 weeks enough time for the deer to get used to it? or should I just go ahead and put it up now? Thanks in advance for whatever advice you have to offer.
Two weeks is plenty of time in my experiences. Kudos to you for taking your daughter out! Both of my kids love to go with me also. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'd put it up now. Just anchor it down so it won't go anywhere. The weather shouldn't be a problem unless you're expecting a hurricane or large snowstorm before the 20th.
I have several set up already. I have private land to hunt on so not much of a worry about being "borrowed" and congratulations on your new hunting partner.
HaHa...hopefully no blizzards or hurricanes! I was more concerned about fading in the sun, or little limbs poking holes in it. I guess it was made to be used though, not kept in a box
One week is good, two is better but I've had luck hunting a blind that was only up for couple of days. A lot depends on where you are putting it. If it's back in the woods then a little more time is warranted. If it's on the edge of a hay field then the deer are used to things like that just showing up out of nowhere (think hay bales). They won't think twice about it.
Two weeks is plenty of time,I've set up a blind brushed it in good and hunted out of it the next morning.
