Hearing Enhancement

Anyone have any hearing enhancement they use while hunting?

My hearing is kind of so-so for the faint sounds. Too many days shooting guns as a kid I guess. I'm fine with everyday normal life sounds and all. It's those real faint sounds that sometimes are hard for me. The rustling of leaves in the distance, sounds of something walking a ways off. Those are the things hard for me. I rely on eye sight more than anything. Just curious who is in the same boat and what you guys use or recommend.

I too wonder about this. Lots of days in a duck blind, running heavy machinery, and playing drums in a band have taken a toll.

Now I have a office job and short hair and my wife says I'm def as a post.

 

Don't need to hear much it is just a squirrel anyway.

 

Nope, I am blessed with two ears that don't miss a trick.

 

I consider my hearing enhancement as follows: I never take the wife with me! I can actually listen to nature and not her nagging! just joking, she is awesome!

I too have some hearing loss; mainly in my left ear (the ear closest to the muzzle). I should probably look into an aid of some kind but don't really need it at work. I do have to keep a close eye on things to my left or a deer will walk right in on me. I also have trouble locating sounds in the woods sometimes.

 

Hah. The last thing I want to do is hear more squirrel's.

 

Theres one called wild ear that they use on a waterfowl show i watch. Killed sounds above a certain decibel and enhanced sound below. Though it was a cool product but found out theyre over $1000. Too rich for my blood

I am deaf in my right ear with some loss in my left. I tried a knockoff Walker Game ear once and it was junk. I am not sure if the real deal works better. I rely heavily on my sight, I am so used to not hearing deer the rare times I have heard one I had no idea what was making the noise lol.

 

My left ear has hearing loss which really sucks when it comes to locating sounds I do hear, I wonder if hearing enhancement would help resolve that? anyway, its not too big of an issue for me. just gotta have a little extra patience in the woods and still in the stand.

 

Go see an audiologist for the best results, they can determine where your deficits are and program your hearing aids accordingly.

 

I much prefer hearing enhancement Im significantly too young to need a hearing "aid"

My buddy has high dollar hearing aids in both ears and virtually never hears a deer walk in on him. When we hunt elk he only hears bulls bugle within 150 yards and almost never hears cow talk. It really takes away from his experience but he still loves being out there.

 

the real deal is effective. helps offset 50 years of shooting, a little demolition here and there, not to mention the blown ear drums from diving. if it works for me it should work for most anyone.

I have a walkers game ear. although it is a older unit. I like it to some degree. I cant wear a mask or even a toboggan for that matter. Anything over the ear an it really causes problems. a buddy of mine has a newer one an loves wearing it. brags about the stuff he heard that he never knew existed. HAHA. When I only wear it in one ear its sometimes hard for me to tell where sounds are coming from being its so much louder on one side than the other. if you hunt close to roads or any places with lots of back ground noise just forget it, the sound of cars an such will be to much.

 

Which model do you have?

 

My dad uses a walkers game ear bc if hearing loss and swears by it.
