I'm looking for a lease near Lee's Summit. I do mostly bow during deer season, but I would like to gun hunt and do some small game stuff too. I have some younger children who go out with me as well. Thanks
Have you looked on the Hunting Lease Network? I've looked at it before. Nothing in my area but Missouri should have some areas available. It's worth a look. Hunting Lease Network - online property leasing service where landowners can lease their hunting property, and hunters can search for hunting land and bid on hunting leases
I have, there have been a couple close, but they have been very expensive. I hunted Lone Jack last year. Had a blind stolen, I'm hoping I can find my own place.
I don't know if you've already checked these or not, but here are a few more sites aside from HLN that you can check/keep an eye on, if you haven't already. Missouri Hunting Leases by County | Base Camp Leasing Land Lease Listings Missouri Hunting Leases by Full Rut Leasing | Racks and Tracts
There is no doubt about the being expensive. This close to town and with the size of the deer around it is bound to be expensive. There are quite a few Consevation areas that provide some real good hunting around here.
I know it's a specific time and you wouldn't be able to hunt all year but I usually get drawn for Longview hunt every year. I lived around Longview Lake most my life but now live in Holden, just a little east of Lone Jack. You could maybe look at putting in for a managed hunt. Blue and Grey isn't a bad managed hunt either. The pressure on the managed hunts is far less than normal public.
How in the world do you get drawn for Longview every year? We get drawn about every 5 years. Depends on what your idea of better is. Reed definitely has a good population of deer especially since they added that 1000 acres north of 150 hwy. It use to be where you had to go in and place pins on a map to show where you were hunting. Not sure if that has changed or not. I've personally never applied for a Reed hunt. These are just stories of friends that have hunted there. Blue and Gray as well as Monkey Mountain are both good places. Longview is a good place as well. The early hunt at Longview usually has around a 10% success rate of getting drawn.
