Yea, my white oaks didn't drop last year, so I think it's game on this year! They come like clock work to those acorns!

 

White acorns last year were non existent. October deer hunting was rough then the hot temps in Nov made deer hunting real tough.

 

I will kill the biggest buck of my life this year because I have worked harder this spring and summer than ever before. Scouting, shooting, gaining access to new (great) property. Very excited for the fun to begin. Hope it pays off!

 

That is the secret. Being the only one to know about him, or at least his whereabouts.

 

Because I won't shoot one smaller than my previous record. My goal for now is to shoot a bigger buck each time...currently at 128.5".

I also got access to 300 acres in Adams Co. OH, so that probably helps my odds too. I have been hunting the suburbs on 5-25 acre lots.

I'm optimistic about this season because of all the work I been doing around the farm locally in Pa and the scouting and passing small deer over the years it's starting to pay off. I am on my 5th year huntin Public land in Ohio with good succes in the past and continue to scout and find new spots and have several cams all over Ohio. Each year I am trying to shoot a bigger deer than the previous year in each state, I have been fortunate enough to put a 120" down at the farm in PA and last year a 130" buck in Ohio. I pulled my cams in Ohio yesterday and have a nice buck on cam id like to take. And as far as Pa there's a really good wide buck that has a target. Good luck all completing your goals!

Cause I can! Optimism drives me

 

I am always optimistic when going to the woods thinking this the day. I don't have a set number...I have yet to kill one worthy of the wall and that's my goal. And that's an obtainable goal.

 

I can't believe I didn't see any references to him saying 42 is his lucky number and Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy saying 42 is Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything". I must be the only nerd here .

I don't really care about shooting the biggest buck of my life. I wouldn't pass it up obviously, but I just love to hunt deer with a bow. As long as the deer I shoot makes me happy, that's all that matters to me.

 

I love bowhunting as well. Big buck or not. It's been like 7 yrs since I've killed a 3.5 yr or older buck. I love this stuff!

 

It lies nothing special about 42

 

Is there a chance I kill the most mature deer of my life this year? YES...best scoring maybe not. "biggest" is the wrong mentality in my opinion, not saying antlers play no role on me because I have a possible 2 1/2 making me hope I never see him on stand.

 

If I shoot the biggest buck it will be because I didn't get anything else and I'm out of venison.

I'm hoping to fill a doe tag off the private/public land close to my home and fill my buck tag on something with bad genetics. There were two 3 year olds (8pt and 9pt) that I don't believe got killed in any season last year, and a 2 year old 6pt also. Haven't gotten a good picture to confirm any of them this year yet. Those would be the oldest bucks I know of on the land.

If the 9pt has grown as I expect, I will be hard pressed to be able to not shoot if he shows up during hours.
