A. True point, B. True point, C. I got one, ill have to look but it appeared like it would be $150/acre D. How much do you pay for fertilizer and where do you buy it from? Bulk or in 50# bags?
Also, where those the total fertilizer requirements from LC or just what he applies at planting? I know he would come back and apply more nitrogen
Triple 17 in 50 lbs bags is about $12.50 here. Urea is about $13 for 50 lbs. 0-0-60 is about $13.50 per 50 lbs. Local coop either down here or up north. They are about the same.
Those figures are in lieu of a soil test. Just get an updated soil test and have them recommend what you need. Also you could get away with only applying 75% of the recommended rates and still have good results.
Well apparently our co op is robbing us... by the way, how do you spread your fertilizer? By hand or do you have a spreader for the ATV?
That looks like a lot more fun than using a hand spreader, but those things seem to be pretty darn expensive! Yeah I will look for a new co op. You get your stuff in 50# bags?
Yes 50 lbs bags. I got that cone spreader on craigslist for $450 I think. they are about $700 new. Really work good though. If you want something cheaper may I suggest the following: New Moultrie Feeders ATV Food Plot Spreader Seeder w Plastic Tapered Hopper | eBay You can't beat that price and they seem to work real good. I have it as well. I would get one.
Just picked up a 50lb bag of Urea today to top dress with this week. $17/bag FWIW. I can't remember what I paid last year for it (same place...local Ag/Pet Feed store).
For our research plots, we usually get 55 gallon drums full of it from the coop. Throw that in the back of your Ranger and you'd be good to go.
yeah I thought the same just after I posted it. However, i just looked it up and someone posted on a different forum that 46-0-0 has a density of 48lbs/cubic foot, a gallon in .13 cu. ft. -> gallon drum has 7.15 cu ft or 343 lbs of 46-0-0.. numbers dont seem right
If I remember correctly it's ~325-350. I'll look up receipts tomorrow to now exact. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Never heard of buying urea in a bag. I'll talk to our office lady tomorrow and see if she can find me a receipt with price and lb.
Update on the brassicas! Here is the best plot from last weekend, the over seeded brassicas have germinated and the plot in whole is starting to look good but thistles have started growing Here is the plot that I had disced under and planted the rack maker extreme. The brassicas have germinated and so far that's the only thing. Here is a couple pics from one of our first year brassicas plots This was the first year plot that had great germination, I'm starting to think it is getting browsed heavy... We need a timely rain so I can spread some nitrogen.. This is the worst plot from the last check. Over seeded it with rack maker and it had started to germinate but it's got a long road ahead of it... Here are some non brassica pictures from the day. The first was a 33 lb heartland protein block that looks like this after one week! The trees in tubes are apple trees that I grew from seeds from apples I ate germinated this spring and planted in June! The second is doing very well! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
