$500plus for a shoulder mount. It seems like you really get what you pay for in the world of taxidermy. Saving a hundred bucks can often lead to a piece of crap hanging on your wall forever. After all the time and expense it takes to get a trophy, why skimp on the lifetime memory.
I spent $670 to get my velvet mule deer mounted. It was normally $570 plus an extra hundred for the velvet preservation. The great taxidermists in this area are $550 to $600 for whitetail shoulder mounts. You can still get mounts in the $450 range but there's a definite quality difference between those ones and the truly great mounts.
500 minimum around here for the taxidermist that do quality work. Last three I did were 650 ish with tax ..
Wow is it just me or is your muley smiling?. I definitely can see the detail with your buck and the last pics posted before yours thanks for sharing Justin!!!! Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
All of the taxidermists in my area run $325-450. Mine charges $385 and is of higher quality than the expensive guys Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I guess I paid between $700.00 to $800.00 for my last to do it myself Before then I was paying $525. From here out should be pretty cheap.
The last one I had done was a shoulder mount of the replica I had made of the buck a neighbor shot. Had the replica antlers made then a shoulder mount with a new donor cape. Best looking mount I've ever had done, the shoulder mount with cape was $650 I think. The replica antlers...well that was spensive. He's the one with the tag in the center:
Locals around here are in the $350 range. Every mount I looked at was horrible. Some I could see foam from the form. When I had my mount done I drove 4 hrs and paid $630. It was worth every penny. Taxidermy Unlimited in Burnsville, MN Taxidermy Unlimited | Taxidermy Unlimited I learned early on that if I wanted a mount, I was going to get a good one. My brother's first buck mount was $450 or so back in 1991. It looks as good today as it did when he brought it home. My cousin had one done that was crap after 3 years.
Just curious, what was the reason for mounting the replicas from one your neighbor killed when you had all those other monsters mounted? Great buck for sure just wondering if you had a certain history with him or something. Also, why put a fake tag on it?
I really like this style of mount. if I get lucky and shoot a big one, this is how I will have it mounted. I will pay good money for good work
Will bring home in a couple of weeks after drying and touch up. $550 for fantastic work in my opinion.
I shot my biggest buck ever last year and decided against mounting it and instead I did the euro mount
