iv'e heard about guys sending out their bows to get them tuned. so i figure that i'd try it out. now the guys does not do strings so i placed order with #1buckslayer but mine will flo. orange & silver w/black pin and also ordered a saunder cable side slide. should have this in by Wednesday 6-22-16 then i'll be sending out my i34 for the complete make over. i'll let all know what i think about sending out a bow for tuning. this is a befor pic of my bow
I ordered some strings from Shane as well. Great strings and a great price till the end of the month. You will be very satisfied. Just don't expect your bow to be perfectly tuned to you when you get it back. It should be close but you may have to make some minor adjustments. It's always best when having someone else tune your bow if you can be there as well. Form comes into play and if you don't have perfect form, you have to tune to your form. They are great strings too. Just because it's a good sale doesn't mean they are cheap. These strings were actually recommended to me by ex-wolverine(ParkNSons Archery). You know if they were recommended by him that they are quality strings. Bow was right on the money with specs and only needed a half twist to get cams in sync. nope never meet they were bad strings. that's a heck of a price for great strings! can't wait until i get my set put on the i34
You guys should have tried Bow String Depot. They were having a 20% off Fathers day sale (FD20 today is the last day). Hutch is great guy and I have been very happy with their strings the last three years.
I am going the exact opposite way, having just purchased a used Bow Time Machine press from AT and learning by hand how to tune my own bows. My nephew was an excellent tuner and did all my work previously, but recently took a new job and is moving out of state with his family. He did a great job on my bows, but I learned from watching him that he could get a particular results shooting my bow during the process that was not the same as I got with my shooting form. Thus I am a bit skeptical that someone else can tune a bow beyond specs without making it "their" tune and not "your" tune. It is definitely a learning curve and I had my primary shooter kind of messed up earlier in the week, but know enough to get it back to "neutral" where I can start over. Along the way I am gaining both knowledge and confidence, so if something would happen during hunting season I could handle it as an inconvenience rather than a crisis. By the way, I shoot Catfish Custom Strings made here in west Michigan by a great guy named Mike Piechocki. I have a set on both my current bows, plus had Mike's strings on my previous three. Every set has been well made with no peep rotation or serving issues, plus were in specs. My current shooter bow came with America's Best platinum strings and had serving seperations on both ends of the cables when I replaced them with Catfish Customs.....not impressed.
funny how this posting started out has a bow make over/tuning and it turned into a "who makes better strings"
I like the Saunders on my I31, I was able to adjust the rod even further in for less horizontal pressure on the cables at full draw. It really was an easy bow to tune....now my 2016 spirit on the other hand been a pain in the ***.
