What technology do you distance yourself from in the world of hunting and why? What "innovations" do you hunt without for the sake of challenge? Technology is constantly progressing, so does that mean the challenge of hunting keeps getting easier? In some ways no, but technology does obviously play a huge part in the or sport. Its a scary thought in some ways. Be it trail cameras, bow technology etc, what do you purposefully stay away from?
I will try most new technology, but I'm purposely avoiding the ozonics stuff. Best way to beat a whitetail's nose is to hunt the wind. I take all precautions I can to eliminate my scent, but I simply will not hunt if the wind is wrong. Looking back over my 40 years of hunting, I sure wish I had learned that A LOT SOONER!
40 years of hunting??????????????? Were there even hunting seasons back then? What were you using just an Atlatl or was that before them?
That's right. You were born before there was dirt. All you had to play with was stones and from your playing with them, the rest of us now have dirt to play in! Thanks hh!!!!!
I don't rely on electronic gadgets, but the technology in today's bows is something I don't care to do without. Trail cams are nice, but they have never really changed where or how I hunt. I can't say that I've ever used a range finder to make a shot. Never needed gps to get to my stands, although that may change now that I'm hunting Montana. My cell phone isn't a smart phone, so that stays in my pack or my pocket. Other than weapons technology, I really don't rely on it too much.
I've pretty well quit running trial cams because of theft. I will run one old moulree from time to time, but it's a very old cam. I also don't own a gps or scent machine. I went back to aluminum arrows last year, and still shoot the original spitfires.
I'll probably never go back to aluminum. I also don't own a GPS, but with a smartphone, you're always got one...
I will probably always avoid the ozonics. On the other hand, I wish I could avoid my phone while I'm on stand but I can't seem to do that. Blessings..........Pastorjim
I'm so concerned with keeping up with the latest technology I make sure to upgrade my hunting bow at least every 12-15 years or so.
Every Tom **** and Harry having their own hunting show. And them trying to show the world how great they are at hunting.
The only technology I use for hunting is my LW stand, my bow and my trail cams. That's all I need/want.
