I'm heading up after work tonight and will be hunting the next 3 days to try and get it done. Then I've got a couple weeks off and will be back at it with my boys, hope to finally have them see something while out hunting. Can't wait for that weekend, and either can they! Well I got blanked this morning. Heard a few gobbles N of us right away and then nothing after 6...haven't seen a single bird all day. Hopefully things change for the afternoon.
After putting a group of about 4-5 tons to bed last night, we snuck back in this morning and had them gobbling like crazy until about 6:20. My dad, my sister and I then chased them all over the place for the next hour before my dad was able to get a shot at him with his shotgun! Back at it this afternoon hoping to catch the rest of that group as they head back to roost tonight.
I hiked into a place I've wanted to get to for a while. Looks awesome a had 2 birds out in the field. It's pretty tough to get to especially with all the gear. I'm set up now and ready for business!! Good luck everyone! Sent from my miracle handheld communication device.
Drove up to camp at daylight to have a look/listen. Drove the back roads stopping at every place that looked good. Ended up getting a bird to respond just down the road from camp. A gobbling fool! Hopefully I'll find some time to go look for some more, and locate some birds closer to home that I can get permission to hunt.
I blew it this morning. Had a nice tom at 8 yards and he caught me going for my bow. I was messing with my phone and he snuck in on me. I panicked a little and he busted me. That one is going to haunt me for a while. Sent from my miracle handheld communication device.
