I have a confession to make, I think I like turkey hunting more than deer hunting and it not just the weather. I'm an Australian and we don't have Turkeys to hunt in Australia so this is my second season hunting them and I love it. I think the anticipation and interaction get me. The Toms answering you, you can hear them getting closer and closer drives me nuts, my heart is beating so fast by the time they are in range I think I might have a heart attack... what a way to go! MD starts on the 18th why a Monday I don't know but I think I'm going to have eye trouble that morning as in I can't see myself getting into work!

I Know!!! It's a tough call. The first time a good friend of mine took me. He's been hunting turkeys for 25 years so he was a good guide. We had a tough time cause the Toms were henned up. We spent the first day locating them. Day 2 we had a good idea for a set up. Sat all morning with gobbling all around us. Nothing would come..... till one unlucky tom wanted a different flavor hen at about 11am and came spit drumming right into 10 yards of us. Getting ready to scrap with our Jake deek. How I didn't have a heart attack I still don't know. I was hooked for Life!

I hunted Wayne county 1st season. The Toms were gobbling on the roost and for the first 20-30 minutes after they pitched down but after that it was quiet! Every time I thought I was going to have a chance at a bird I was undone by hens. I did end up finally getting a 50 yard shot but I was stupid and rushed the shot and missed. oh well on to the next hunt I guess.
