Ok I have been hunting for 20 years without a range finder ( Not with a bow) but after missing a buck 2 years ago and last year I am thinking about getting one. Is there a brand you all prefer or have had problems with. Thanks Jay
It's really about how much you want to spend. A good quality range finder would be Nikon or bushnell but the best you can get are vortex in my opinion. They're fantastic
Been very happy with Nikons over the years. Bought the new Nikon last year and it works very well. If you want to spend some serious money, Swarovski and Leica make an incredible Binocular/range finder combination.
I have a Leica range finder and it is awesome and durable. I have a Nikon also and with its black display it is very difficult to use early morning and near dark in the evening, what I would consider my prime times. The Leica had a red display and is easy to see during these times. In addition I had it in my basement when my basement flooded once and I was thinking that there was 500 bucks down the tubes but dried the battery out turned on and worked like a charm. No water damage at all. Highly recommend Leica.
I've had the Bushnell Team Primos The Truth ARC 4 x 20mm Bow Mode Laser Rangefinder for the last 2 years and it's been great. No issues with it at all. It's bow only and ranges out to about 250 yards in my experience. They say 200 but it will range farther. This being a bow only range finder, it's a little cheaper, about $150 on Amazon. I have a Nikon Archers Choice and love it as well I've had it three years no issue other than the black display like kb1785 already mentioned it's been solid especially in cold temps
My only advice is do jot buy a vortex ranger 1000, the new ones are better but the gen-1.... Not good.
