I know some states are hunting or very close to the season opener, I'll be picking teams in next 2-3 days

I don't know whether to enter it or not. Historically I don't turkey hunt much but we have so many this year I'm thinking of getting into it a bit more this year. I'm just afraid if I enter it and get placed on a team that I may not end up contributing any points...

Theres no guarantees. Unless you know that you won't have the time to hunt. Ive never taken a bird with a bow but I'm gonna try like hell this year. My new bow is now a year old and still no blood, hoping that a happy beardsgiving will change that. Its when you down that bird and wish you would of signed up. lol

Nah, I plan on going and I have no further to go than my backyard and I've taken more than a few with a bow, I'm just not a "regular hardcore turkey hunter". I'm just mediocre at calling at best, seems like most every turkey I've taken with a bow was more out of pure luck than anything else. I'm a little hesitant to commit to being on a team and depending on luck to contribute points I guess.
I think I'll go ahead and sign up though.

I myself have only shot a handful of turkeys. Just never with a bow. I really enjoy just calling them and getting them to answer back. Ive learned to use blades of grass and new growth leaves to call with like a reed. Downside is its not hands free but pretty cool to be able to use the vegitation in the field to call with and not have to use a man made tool. But anyways glad you signed up. I guess this isn't the intention of the thread so Ill end with good luck and happy hunting

Sign up Covey. It's just for fun and if it gets you out in the woods why not right? I love turkey season cause I shoot a lot more arrows at turkey than I do deer. If you don't get one no worries. I'll take ya on my team!

The team adds more fun and camaraderie, you will want to get out there for your team, it also makes me keep the bow in my hands when the hunting gets tough and the shot gun could make the run and gun game easier. Half of the guys won't kill so I wouldn't stress about that, just have fun.

    Thanks guys!
Well the nice thing about turkey hunting is that even though I'll be busy in the fields, I can take off an hour or so and if I happen to bag a turkey I can have it field dressed and in the fridge pretty fast. Deer turn into a big concern when the weather is warm and I don't have a walk in cooler, they kill a day to dress and get cut off the bone and in the fridge. That constant concern about a deer often keeps me from even taking off and going in the mornings for fear I'll kill one and have to deal with processing, haha.

That's ok. If we get on the same team they'll have to carry both of us..........

When, how, and where can I get on a team for this spring turkey season. I hunt in ohio and would love to chance to get in on the action. How can I register and when can I register.

I might get down on this. I want to do the deer contest next year. I've never tried to harvest a turkey but have been wanting to for a while now. Also 99% of the time if I'm hunting it's with my bow. So why not give it a try? I'll have to think about this though,I don't want to be the weak link...

Should've got one with the gun last year. Maybe I'll bring out the bow this spring just for the contest. That would be sweet to get one with the bow

I've never gotten a turkey so my first one would be awesome with my bow. I also want to join in on the deer contest next year, sad I missed it this year.
