Just wondering what everyone on here is using to carry stand and stick comfortable on their back on the way to their hunting spot. Is anyone adding any extra weight such as a backpack or just the stand and stick. What straps are you using, what were you using prior, and why is it better? I'm currently using backpack straps from my old summit, and they don't carry very well. Please let me know. Thank you.
Two Winchester brand neoprene rifle slings from Walmart. Adjustable and only $7.99 each......they work really well at cushioning the weight when you walk.
Are these the only thing your tried or did you try conventional backpack straps and this was the best ?
I have the Lonewolf padded straps and love them. Planning on getting a new lonewolf set this summer and will be adding them to that one as well! I tried the original straps but didn't like them. Found they were cutting into my arms to much.
I paid a lot of money for the custom made straps for LW that were offered by Gray Wolf Woolens back in the day. Ended up having a squirrel chew one in half on me, and when that happened I realized it was just an adjustable neoprene strap that has some stretch for shock absorption built in. Same thing as a neoprene gun sling. I haven't tried anything else other than the regular LW straps, the Gray Wolf Straps, and the gun slings. The gun slings are just as nice as the Gray Wolf straps, and both are much nicer than the regular LW straps. For the record, I used to carry a LW in and out a good 20-40 sits a year.
I use a Mollie rifle pack waist and shoulders with the plastic back support and it works great and not much more in money than the other options
I use the Lone Wolf neoprene backpack straps on all my Lone Wolf's and they make a world of difference, IMO
I use the Moliie straps and lower back support with waist strap. Absolutely, love this combo. Not much money either. The only down side is that I do not like leaving this stand in the woods if I have to bury it. The idea of a varmint chewing on the straps keeps me up at night. Not the best photos but, you get the idea:
I left a LW sit and climb in the woods ONE TIME, and that was the LAST time!! I had it cable locked on PRIVATE land and still had it stolen!!!! That hurts. Don't learn the hard way like I did. That Mollie set up looks real comfortable, but doesn't it have to be taken off to use your stand? If that's the case, I wouldn't use it because of the hassel.
No the Mollie does not have to be taken off to hang the stand. I have the exact same set up on my lone wolf hang on and climbing stands. I do not have to remove them to use either. Best investment short of my bow and the stand itself. I also have a kidney belt on the hang on. They work fine with the straps attached. Just make sure everything is strapped on above the fork that grips the tree Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I use the mollie shoulder straps on my 8lb Assualt. No need for the kidney belt imo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm sure if you are worried about all the straps blowing, you could bungie them somehow. I do not worry about it. Leaves blow around as well, branches swap, ect. Have not been busted yet because of the straps. The system is like heaven on your shoulders
