I just got into self filming and I use a Canon Vixia HF R600. It has a built in mic but everyone knows that those mics aren't very good. Especially in the hunting woods when the wind decides to pick up and ruin an interview. Well, what do I do, I could buy a shotgun mic but where would I mount it because the cameras are so small and have to place to put one. I thought of mounting it on the camera arm. Also what is a good Rode mic for beginning to self film?
The rode video mic is what a lot of people use and is an excellent mic for the money. You will also need to buy a wrap-around bracket in order to mount it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You could go with a boom mic and buy a mounting bracket. If you wanted something different you could always look at something like a Zoon H1 and record your audio to a separate device and connect them in the editing process.
