yea its not easy every year to fill out the application for a Montana sheep tag every year. But a big Horn tag in Missouri River Breaks has to be a to top three dream tag for me. I will be in again for sure.

This area really gets good during the rut in November. Pretty nasty country to hunt so it's best to wait until they come down to the lower elevations. My dad killed a 189" with his recurve in 92' that was the state record for 7 years in the same general area. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My way of looking at the sheep tags has gone like this up to this point: The odds of drawing a lower 48 sheep tag are extremely slim, regardless of the species. Say you apply in every state, every year, that has a sheep draw. This does improve your odds of eventually drawing, but when? Hell I may not even be able to do a sheep hunt in 25-30 years. For me, I want to hunt sheep....real bad. But the species does not matter much to me. I don't have much interest in completing a sheep slam. If I was actually to chose any species to hunt, it would be Dalls. I will still apply for sheep in states where I'm already planning on playing the game for other species, because it's just a few more bucks. However, I think it's better (for me at least) to invest your leftover money towards saving to pay an outfitter in Alaska or Canada. You can guarantee yourself a hunt, when you are ready. Yeah you foot a huge bill, but how much more than playing the sheep tag lottery? Although Mountain Goats aren't on my radar right now, I view them the same. Sounds like an unbelievable trophy! Was there an article written on that sheep? I seem to remember hearing about a state record BH just before the publishing of the 93 edition of pope and young.
2016 should be a good one for me. I find out in 2 weeks if I will be able to go Musk Ox hunting in February. Then we have bear baiting in May, and going after Brown Bears in June. Dall Sheep for 8-9 days in August, then Kodiak Mountain Goats for a week in October... The big question is whether or not to squeeze in a week chasing Alaska Yukon Moose in September? As for draws, any Alaskan draws would be a wrench in the plan almost and force me to cut out an already planned hunt (given the quality of draw units over OTC, I would). All lower 48 draws will be points only for 2-3 more years. CO Deer and Sheep. WY Deer and Elk. UT Deer Elk Sheep Moose AZ Deer Elk Sheep May add other Shiras Moose states this year. I can't wait to cash in my deer and elk points across the board and be done with the points game sometime in the next decade. It's a waste for my hunting goals I've come to realize. A Dall sheep hunt is in the cards, either AK or Canadian. But For me any lower 48 big horn draws are just a drea come true. I hopefully have plenty of time to make it happen. Cost wise a Alberta bighorn is pushing 60k. there are a lot of draws in the lower 48 before I hit that mark, but who knows one day I might just spring for it and go to Alberta. Goats I gave up on, I don't have many points for them and I can pull a bow hunt in Canada for around the 15k mark. I am booking a trip as soon as both my kids are in school.

Hoping to do an outfitter trip to Kansas, in the research faze now. Applying in Iowa mainly to get points. Will be checking into some public land hunts in WI May try to get out to Wyoming for an antelope. Definately want to get out and do more, just not very confident heading out on my own to somewhere I've never been.
