I'm in the market for new camouflage this year. I'm trying to find a pattern for late season in Wisconsin. Is Scent Lok going to offer anything in Lost Camo again? I see all the BHOD guys wearing it but does it come in cold weather? Also, been looking at Sitka. Thanks guys happy ATA show
I worry less with the pattern and more about the actual quality. Sitka outerwear and First Lite base layers have been good to me. First lite is also coming out with some new stand hunting pieces so worth checking out. Regardless of your choice, make sure you get something with windstopper.
Check out the newly released, soon to hit the shelf camo from Last Leaf Camo. Their Late Season pattern looks awesome.
Carbon is so last year. This uses scent eliminating unicorn dandruff. Before you scoff...have you ever smelled a unicorn? Didn't think so.
I'm a fan of Scentlok because of the quality of the clothing. I wish they made a carbon free line. They could call it Carbon Neutral for all the eco hipsters. But, I guess they would have to admit to the carbon and scent control myth to do that.
You can't go wrong with the Cabela's berber fleece or wooltimate. It's usually on sale this time of the year.
Sitka is fantastic, but I switched over to Predator at the end of the year, and I love their camo patterns....Also they (Predator) is coming out with a cross zip like Sitka Fanatic Series Jacket, bibs, etc.... They have very warm clothing as well....I went with the Fleece Series from Predator... Creeks
I just got a chance to use cabelas wooltimate in Outfitter Camo Pattern. It's quite impressive. Blends in amazingly and we had highs in the low thirties with 20-30mph winds and I had no problems with base layer on bottom, baselayer+sweatshirt on top all covered by the wooltimate pants and pullover. The stuff is well made and fits slim so there's no huge marshmallow man bulk. I've been studying camo for a few months now and patterns with more light colors (predator, Kuiu, Sitka, Cabelas Outfitter) work best for ungulates.
First time posting on any hunting forum. A couple days ago I sat in a tri fold chair among some straw looking grass clumps. xbow was brotherhood 170lb - fast. Just before 5PM 4 does came up a trail toward me. It opened to a small field and I was at the opposite end. I was visible from about waste up. First deer walked straight at me. Second deer walked straight at me. Third deer came out of trail and gave me a broadside shot 28 yards. I shot between the first two cause they were straight on. First one was about 10 feet away. Second one was less than 10 yards. Neither had a clue.Third deer traveled thirty yards and went to sleep - rage two blade 125 - big hole. Purpose of this post? My camo was an ASAT hoodie snugged around my face. I had a couple black marks on my forehead and a tan camo neckerchief up over my nose. Yep, just a hooded sweatshirt in ASAT pattern and a deer got close enough to spit on sitting at eye level. It was a clear day with good light, slight breeze in my face. Just wanted to share that. Oh, found the bolt the next morning in perfect condition. Wanted to try ASAT but all they had was a hoodie in stock. I'll keep it.
Natural gear winterceptor fleece is really good and works well when everything is gray and dull as it normally is in late season.
Camo patterns mean more to the hunter than the deer...obviously some blend in slightly better but any good camo that breaks up your outline will be as good as any other.
