When I was young many years ago in school every morning we started with the Pledge of Aliegiance. Wondering when this stopped in schools. I know where I went to school we no longer did it once we hit the Jr High. But my understanding is that it is not done in public schools anymore. I think that is when the basket started to tip and that could be part of the real inconvenient truth this country has to worry about.

I graduated in 2008 and they still did it through then for sure at my school but I don't think it was too long after that it stopped.

    Edit: They still do it.

No longer reciting the Pledge in public schools is the pivotal point in the downfall of American society?

I wasn't even born until 1990 and we said it all through school. My generation is the one being blamed for the apocalypse. I don't see your connection at all unless you are talking in generalities and not actually referring to the Pledge specifically.

My children not only say the pledge of allegiance each morning in school...but they sign real Christmas songs for their Christmas concert. God bless the small town.

It's just one of the straws on the camel's back. Pop culture has more to do with the state of things than anything else.

I teach in Terre Haute, Indiana (elementary, 4th grade) and we start everyday with the pledge and a moment of silence. I appreciate that our corporation still does this.

Glad to hear it is not dead, only close to the tall buildings and the coasts.

My kids pledge every morning during assembly. It's one of the benefits of being brought up in the midwest.

I'm from a town just south of Raleigh, NC. When I graduated in '11, during "announcements," we still recited the pledge every day but it was done by a student, not an administrator..I think someone found a loophole somewhere. Although it was recited everyday, you were not required to stand.
