Ha! No, burn out has not set in yet. I've only been home since Monday. Got my WI buck butchered up, checked trail cams (only have two out currently and nothing but does while I was gone), celebrated my wife's Birthday, took my son in for his 9 mo Dr appointment, and have our car in the shop getting fixed after a tree fell on it as my wife was driving down our driveway. Weather has been the pits, but I'll start getting out again this coming week. Looks like my buddy Nick might come up for a visit again for a few days mid-week too. While I'm not too optimistic on scoring a buck late season up here, I'm still going to give it a go. I plan to spend some time on the Whistler's Ridge side of the North Shore. That's where I've gotten the most late season buck pics in the past, and where my neighbor's dog found Buster's shed from last year. I'll also set up on the Grassy bench and maybe the ridge I cross to get there. Seems to have good sign and it's not as far This is the only time of year where I'm even tempted for a food plot. It's be nice to have a good concentrated food source now that there's snow.
Last two nights of the season. Ends at the end of shooting light tomorrow. I'm up on the ridge behind the lodge. Same spot where I missed that little buck early Nov.
Hunting close to home just got interesting for the next few years! They are still cutting to my S. Skidding N by my dad who is out in his tripod. There were 3 does 50 yards out in front of my tree when I got in to set up. The logging made for a good noise cover. Should be shutting down for the day soon.
Don't you just hate it when people don't respect that someone else can have something and expect it to actually be theirs and want to use it themselves? Never used to post our land until I got asked to leave by someone that didn't even know that he was trying to throw the landowner off his own land!!!!
Nothing else came through during shooting light. It's weird sitting there with the new view. I'll sit again tomorrow night for the final sit of the season. Bitter sweet I guess. Dad had a couple does come through at sundown where he was at. Both saw deer which is nice. What are the odds that a buck decides to waltz through tomorrow?
Good luck Fitz. I will be out for the last hurrah as well. Hope we both see something we want to shoot
Back at it. The limbing machine is working up here, but he'll be done well before dark. Here's to the end of 2015! One last shot
Been watching does since 3:50. Ended with one of the collared does and her fawn crossing to cut to me. Ending the season how it started, with a collared doe and a clear cut. Happy new year everyone!!
