I did my yearly day after Christmas trip to Cabela's with my gift card. I decided to pick up a new camera, I am a moultrie guy so that was the brand I was looking for. I ended up buying a A-5 with it's 1.5 second shutter speed, yeah I know it is cheaper but durable. My logic was I have my cameras up in by feeders chances are the deer will not be moving much by the feeder.

I am not photographing for National Geographic.

I just need to know what is out there.

Exactly seems like 99% of the pics I get are does and sqirrels thru out the year.

If you are monitoring bait stations, faster shutter speeds are really not necessary.

First, I read the reviews on Chasingame and Trailcampro to see which cams are good and which are not then decide.

Second, shutter speed varies between daylight and IR photos and also in cameras so it takes some time to learn those too. The faster the shutter speed the less blur you will get if there is any movement. What you might be looking at though is Trigger speed, which is not shutter speed. Then I would say like the others have said and that is setting up on feeders the faster trigger speed is not necessary.

I bought the original A5 a year or two ago and am pleased with a $40 camera that's still working.

A-5 is a reliable trail camera that takes average pictures and is worth the little bit of money.

I bought a Bushnell trophy cam vital 12mp from cabelas the other day. On sale for $110, -$20 cabelas bonus bucks, plus a $30 mail in rebate. .3 sec trigger. Not sure how it is yet but for $60 I'll try it. Also bought a cuddeback IR 20mp extended range on sale and with cabelas bonus was $100. Supposed to have 1/4 sec trigger. Currently have that one taking pics of the cat drinking Christmas tree water because the wife doesn't believe that she does..... Lol

Maybe just bad luck on my end; where in which I have a lot of...but within two weeks, I bought two and both failed to take infrared.
