What do most of you guys prefer, a standard head or swivel head type? Neither of mine has a swivel (Wiseguy & Vapor trail thumb). I'm worried that I'm twisting the D loop to much on the draw and it's effecting my arrow flight so I'm now looking for a good swivel head to combat this. Any suggestions?
I use to shoot a SCOTT caliper release that had a head on it that swiveled. Once I drew back I never noticed that the head swiveled due to the tension on the release. I now shoot a Carter Insatiable 2+. It does twist the "D" loop when I draw back. I haven't had any adverse affects with my "D" loop twisting. Good Luck!!
my draw starts knuckles out and ends knuckles in against my jaw, 180 deg turn during draw... so I always use a swivel head release
Could I lengthen the D-loop or would this cause more problems? I'm seeing the most problems when I use my 4 finger Vapor Trail thumb release - I'm not use to the draw mechanics yet. It's not as bad using my Wiseguy release but now I'm thinking of picking up a release with a swivel head, the few times I used a swivel head it just felt a bit smoother. I really wished that I was able to try all these releases out before buying, but that is impossible I know, it's just a bit much that I have already spent nearly $200 on a trigger and I haven't found one I really like...
I would not worry at all about a bit of twist in your loop. That loop material twists far easier than your bow string under tension could. That loop is not affecting the string. I shoot a Scott Rhino XT that is a hook style. Best release I ever owned.
Trufire Hardcore max is the one I have. Overall i like it but I'm considering going to a thumb release.
I don't see it being a problem. But a release with cord attaching it to the wrist strap seems better to me than a swivel head. Less to go wrong. IMO
I shoot either a Scott 3 finger hinge (mainly Pro Advantage) or a Scott Exxus. Obviously, neither of those swivel. That's one of the main reasons you shoot a loop, to take that torque off the bowstring. All of this is one of the biggest reasons I like thinner D-Loop material. BCY D-Braid is the best I've ever used. I've been testing the BCY #23 too. The D-Braid is much more durable but the #23 is more flexible. The most popular d-loop material is by far the BCY #24 but it's too stiff for me. A decent sized loop with good loop material will fix your issues. For the most part, the best archers in the world are shooting releases where the heads don't swivel.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
did your anchor points change when you went to a thumb release? I tried out the stanislawski and did not like it...not to say I wouldn't like another hand release..I'm finding the wist wrap overall puts more initial draw weight on shoulder versus back muscle, maybe natural position of arm and hand when using thumb utlilizes back muscles sooner?
