If someone were to shoot a P&Y buck with a bow during rifle season, can it still be counted as a P&Y buck even though it's taken with a rifle tag?

Absolutely, assuming you are legal under all state and P&Y rules and regs.

Yeah, it deals with method of take, not nature of tag

Thanks guys. I had been debating on whether I was going to go rifle hunting or take my bow out instead, or maybe not go at all. I believe in Kansas you can use archery equipment during rifle season so I have definitely made up my mind to go out. I've got a giant to slay named Goliath!

    You would be fine man.

In PA we get deer tags, not rifle or bow tags. We have to have an archery license to hunt during the archery only seasons. But if I take a deer in rifle season taken with my bow I put the weapon used when filling it out. I use my bow in rifle if I have tags. Last year I tagged out in archery, this year I haven't loosed an arrow yet lol.

    Good luck Joe.

    Nice deer. Very nice.

P&Y is concerned with method of take and legal seasons.

Yeah, but I took an archery buck already, so I can't shoot a buck during rifle season in Kansas. It's one buck total regardless of the method. I know some states are different. I almost bought a rifle tag, haha if they would have given me one and I shot a buck I could see it now-- Joey Barrett of Shedding Light Outdoors, a Christian hunting website was caught for poaching!!!!

Yes it counts. I did it in 2013. P&Y didn't ask what season I was in just what day and method I used.

Firstly, you should make out when you are legal under all state and P&Y rules and regs by chekcing government official site. There is a webpage - DNR - Hunting Season Calendar - State of Michigan (http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,4570,7-153-10363_14518-312005--,00.html) - for your reference. Secondly, you would better to commit the user manual of your hunting equipment to the memory. There is a manual site named Manualbirds.com (www.manualbirds.com) where there are thousands of free PDF manuals, guides and handbooks online. Wish you good luck.

Lol, for some reason this brings to mind an image of Dan Aykroyd as cone head explaining to the OP how to handle this situation. :lmao2:

Yes it deals with the hunting method, not the particular tag you are using.

archery season in KS doesn't close until all deer seasons close. That being said, don't forget your orange.
