Well team I screwed the pooch on a great buck today. I had a great buck come running down the ravine I was in as fast as he could pause for a second behind a tree got my Camera on him drew back stopped him at 20 yards and for some reason pulled the shot and hit him in the leg. We waited about 4 1/2 hours and went into look for him and found my arrow which only got about 3 inches of penetration. The Broadhead was bent but the arrow was intact. The only good thing that I can say that came out of this is that I know it was not a fatal shot and he should make it just fine. To make matters worse I am pretty sure he was the biggest buck I've ever shot.

I'll be back at next week for sure. Work schedule is jacked up but I'll be working days and nights leaving some days open for a sit or two without PTO. I wanted to sit Wednesday but they have me scheduled to work Tuesday and Tuesday night then I have a meeting in Columbia, MO at 9 am Wednesday. Thursday I'm working that night and if its workable I'll go straight to my stand after work in the early AM. Friday is our Firearms season so I would hope to add points before then, but I've always hunted the day before with no luck at all. This could be the year. That giant I had the encounter with still haunts my dreams with "what ifs".
In March I removed a ton of stands for review and repair. Unfortunately, I never attended any of them. Leaving me with limited options now that my muddy is hanging on the far end of the property, where we've hint twice not seeing any deer. If I get off earlier next Thursday I'll go and move my stand (with the wind being a eastern of any sort.

Was going to get out this morning after the storms yesterday, wind is blowing up to 30 mph and had to get my retired partner into the vet for some emergency surgery. Heading up north tomorrow morning with my son for some more rifle hunting

well I was going to take off next Thursday but work scheduled me for a customer visit. I may get a chance for an evening hunt on Wednesday, since I have to be in Columbia, MO (2.5 hours away) at 9AM. hopefully, that will set me up to back here early afternoon. I'm more than excited to get back int he woods after my encounter.

Not that I don't enjoy this team being in first place but I wish the scorecard was updated a bit more often!

Yeah I totally agree. I got out today and only saw a small buck chasing a doe about a hundred yards away. I'll be out again tomorrow and Tuesday after school.
