His hand to the rack is a bit misleading. Figure his 3 finger spread is 3-4". He's holding the rack out a bit 24" beams, 5" G1's, 11" g2's, 8" G3's, 31-34" mass, 18"spread...
I've never shot anything close to that but my buddy has one that size in his basement and I've seen it a ton. Similar rack size. And I love how the main beams come so close to each other. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't see it that big, it's a deer I would shoot no doubt but his hand on the right side of the rack gives a good measurement. I'm 6'2-3 with fairly big hands. His finger spread isn't more than 4" with only 3 fingers no gap so pinky is curled Be interested in the score, especially after my earlier guess of a 160" was disputed and this one has a heck of a lot less mass and probably beam length.
I was out from 1:00 PM til dark today at a new public spot (new to me anyway). Walking in on the access trail, I was seeing a ton of small scrapes everywhere. I walked down the trail about 3/4 of a mile, saw another scrape, so picked out the first good tree. By the look of the scrape marks on it, I wasn't the first to hang a stand there. I started a little light rattling and grunting. I was expecting deer to come out of the thick stuff to the North, but around 3:00 PM I kept hearing movement behind me. I kept looking back, but not seeing anything, because it was thick back there too. After about an hour I saw 2 doe work their way East to West about 50 yards through the thick stuff behind me. They stopped and started browsing, so I got the camera turned around and ready. By that time they were working their way downwind, and I think one got a little swirl of my wind, so they moved off away from me. Didn't see any bucks chasing. Felt good going into a new spot and seeing action, after getting skunked at my other spots for a while. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
One of the great things about working out side, you get to see things you normally wouldn't get to see working in a office. Taking some rail cars out to our storage yard this morning I see a decent buck, guessing 8 pointer, run across a road with his head down and tail tucked between his legs, look across the road in a tall grassy field and right on the edge is an even bigger buck standing and posturing, and bedded right next to him is a doe. Come back by about 45 mins later and they are a little further into the tall grass and both bedded down....
Who's doing all day sits this weekend? Vacation starts Friday so unless I put a tag on something I'll be in stand dark to dark every day until it happens. That's the plan anyway. Friday is looking good, Halloween will be wet, but I ain't skeered. Thursday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 36. West northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light west after midnight. Friday Sunny, with a high near 60. Light and variable wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon. Saturday Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 57. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Well I was planning on Sitting all day Saturday and probably still will but it will be in a blind as rain is expected most of the day. Grrrrrrrrrrr.
That's about the same forecast for here. Planning all day Friday, Saturday depending on rain, then all day sits until vacation is over....
Might see about a tree umbrella, looks like several chances at rain through the week as well. Edit, just picked up this one http://www.amazon.com/Allen-Company...&qid=1446038634&sr=8-1&keywords=tree+umbrella
Doesn't sound like anybody is out this morning. I got in woods late because of the rain. Ended up sitting in a bad spot because it was getting light fast and I didn't have to time get to where I wanted to go. Im going to sit here another hour and check trail cams, take a break, and get setup for this afternoon's sit.
At college until next Wednesday when I play hookie. Cousin told me last night he saw a huge drop tine buck. I've got my cameras set up on two different scrapes. Things should be heating up here anytime. Wednesday is going to be an all day sit for sure. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
