I have tried a vapor trail pro v and trophy taker smack down pro. I am getting a lot of noise coming from the string that connects the rest to the limb. Would I be better of with a rest that is tied in to my downward moving cable? if so any suggestions on which rest.

I can't say it would be better. But I love the QAD HDX rest. Actually all the QAD's, except the cheapo Hunter, are great.

The new Ripcord Code Red or the QAD Ultra HDX.

I would look at the set up first. I have a smackdown pro on my hunting bow and a limbdriver on my target rig. Both are quieter than any rest I've shot before.

I know this might be laughed at but go with the whisker biscuit. I have NEVER heard of one that failed! I know it makes it a little slower and that it is hard on your vanes but a good trade off for the reliability imo

    Short answer: Yes

I'm a big Limbdriver fan but they aren't nearly as quiet as a cable activated rest.

While I agree that a WB is the definition of reliable, I have seen them fail. When its very cold and wet iv seen them freeze full of ice......BUT who knows how a fall away would have fared in the same condition.

I use the Mathews Genuine Ultra Rest for my NO CAM. Seems to work fine!

Another vote for QAD. That's a live shot of my bow as I sit in the stand.

What do you mean by quiet? I don't hear it on the shot at all. I do hear it when I drop the arm to take the arrow off the string but it's not that loud and you can pop the arrow out through the gap of the swing arm and the top bar if you're that concerned about it.

To me the QAD Ultra Rest does make a noise and you can hear it when you snap it down with the thumb release. I switched over to the Limbdriver Pro V last year and even though I do know of the noise you mention, kind of a light strumming of a guitar string, the buck I shot last year didn't move an inch until the arrow was in the ground on the other side of him. Still seems quieter than my old set up with the QAD but it also was a different bow too.

IMO for the average guy wanting a great rest, the Mathews Edition QAD's are great.

The Mathews Limbdriver ProV's are very nice as well but my QAD's are most definitely quieter than the ProV

I noticed on my NoCam (and the Chill I had) with the Smackdown Pro, if the string was super super tight it made a noise upon release. The string is still tight now, but not guitar string tight and not a sound. May be something to look into.

I shoot the QAD HDX and there is 0 noise. Do other fall always make noise? I'd avoid them if they did.

QAD ultrarest HDX....put it on my bow this summer after I had hunted with a whisker biscuit and wish I had put one on several years ago, extremely quiet!

Thanks will have to try this tonight when I shoot. If this doesn't fix the problem I'm looking into a QAD HDX
