Hey guys, I purchased the 100gr Killzones this past weekend. I have never used them before. I have used the Spitfires in the past and have no complaints really. I decided to try a 2 blade this year and went with the Killzones. My question, for you guys and gals that shoot them, is how accurate do you find them? I used the practice head and found that it was not field tip accurate, BUT the "fake blade" that you use doesn't screw in tight so it may be moving in flight vs. the snug blades.. ANYWAY>>Do you killzone users find them to fly more or less similar to your practice tips? Thanks!
Ok I will do that. It could have been due to fatigue from shooting a lot,... maybe I put the fake blade in wrong.. Not sure. I will know today when I shoot again. Thanks for the comments!
Paper tuned it at the shop when I bought the broad heads. Field points are grouping great... just wasn't getting the accuracy out of the "fake blade" that I was hoping for. I wish I had some more fake blades so I could check my group more, but with bow season opening in my area this Saturday I will have to get it dialed in with the 1 head I guess.
Is the practice head hitting the same place every shot but just off from your FP's or is that practice head all over the place?
If your practice heads are hitting the same point but just not the same as your FP's then you have a tuning issue. Based on being low and left it sounds like two issues. I would personally check centershot by French tune. That will tell you a lot. I would also raise your rest a little bit until your FP's and Bh's are hitting the same elevation. Then move your sight to center again after your FP's and BH's are hitting the same place. Hopefully the French tune will fix the left/right issue.
For me they fly to the same spot as my field points. Hope you get it worked out. Blessings...........Pastorjim
Ok BJE80, now I am learning something. I have been bowhunting (with success) a short 3 years relying on my paper tune results and believing the hype that "our broadheads fly just like field points" and broadhead research of course. French Tuning is new to me and after researching it I can see where that would help. So thanks for the good advice and stay tuned! (no pun intended!)
It is best way to determine centershot. If your FP's and BHs are still off windage wise(left/right) then you have something else wrong (spine, clearance issue, BH not spin tested, form issue). But hopefully the french tune will take care of that. Elevation is easy. Just move rest up and down. In your case, move rest up.
I've shot them for 3 years and they always fly field point accurate. But I never have used the practice blades. I usually designate one for practice use. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
Like Tyler mentioned, I use a real one to practice with too........ The actual broad heads will also sometimes fly different at long distances out a less than perfectly tuned bow when compared to the practice heads. I'll actually superglue a real one closed and use that to practice with instead of the practice head so I don't tear up my target.
always tune bh to your bow, regardless of method used or fb or mechanical. both need tuned. Use what ever tuning method you find easiest. good luck
Once my bow is setup I usually always broadhead tune before setting my sights. I use a fixed blade to tune with even if I plan to shoot expandables. Once everything is in order I will sling a few expandables down range to check for consistency. Once you do that they will generally group well with field points.
Mine flew something like 6 inches left. But not bad. And grouped there. I didn't like the practice head so never used it.
