Best day so far this year! Caught 7 more just like it in between 6 am and 6:30, then it just died off, fun for those 30 minutes though! 20150711_063543.jpg

Went out on a lake yesterday morning. It was pretty slow. I caught 2. Here is the first one.

I started sing swimbaits a lot this year. Really glad I took some time to get comfortable with them. Still have some learning and playing to do with them, but they are great baits. I have no experience with the rod or reel you mentioned though.

Did you ever feel like your lures were too big for the rod? I have a 8" trout I want to use but, I feel it's going to snap the tip of my rod off.

Haha I haven't used them yet (bought 2 this spring, 7" Huds, but didn't get a chance to throw them before summer snuck up on me), so I cant comment. Just be slow and steady with your casts and it will be fine as long as the rod has some beef to it. Ive mostly been throwing the 3.8" Keitech 3.8 and 4.3" Impacts with 3/8 head, so much different from your trout lol.

I use the 4.5" Jerry Rago Bluegill right now and am really enjoying it! Slow and steady is my main problem with a 7:1 reel lol rippin through the water only catches pike :(

Yeah I need to buy a slower reel myself. Im using my frog rod currently so also a 7:1. Makes it hard to fish slow. I can, but its a pain.
