Never used them before this year. Just started using them since I need them for a tarp tent I bought. Saves on weight and read that for packing out elk they are a life saver. Haven't done that yet. They really help on steep stuff for balance. Also read they take a lot of weight off your knees and feet. I have a really bad knee that had every ligament torn playing basketball so anything to take stress off my knees always seems like a good idea.

You'll be amazed the difference they make. Like the difference between 2wd and 4wd.

4 paw is always better than 2 wheel drive. Just ran 10 miles on vacation at wife's parents. All concrete and my knee is screaming at me for it.

Oh well. Time to mow the in laws yard now. I should have brought my bow to shoot, but didn't know where to go in the city.

10 miles in one run? Impressive!
I suffered from a lot of post run knee and hip pain and a friend suggested taking a running class called GFR (Good Form Running). AMAZING difference.

I've been running at least 2 miles everyday. I put in 4 miles last night. I'll be back at it again after work.

More running again today. I've been going through all my gear to double check that I have everything that I need. The waiting is killing me!

I ran 4 miles today with the heat index about 103. Feeling good!

On day 6 of a personal 60 day challenge to shoot & workout everyday...I love what it does for my confidence. Only have 5 days to hunt elk this year...have to be ready to go all out:)

How's it going for everyone else?

I have been slacking in all areas.

But today I'm going to run, shoot, and hopefully do some things outside with a loaded pack.

Been running and lifting. Backpack broke last time I was out so I haven't touched that in awhile. Tenzing is replacing. It was 2 years old. Need to be shooting more. Have slacked off in that area. Should get out today for an easy run and shoot. Tomorrow I run a 10k race where I'll be competing with myself since I'm not fast enough to compete the top guys.

Getting ever so closer. Been killing an easy day at work with a lot of google earth and trying to get things set up on my GPS. Not having luck getting google earth onto base map to GPS.

I got my bow back a few days ago and I'm shooting it again now. I took two days off to give my legs some rest but I ran this morning and I'll run again this afternoon.

I spent a long weekend in Idaho and fit in a 2 mile run. The air at 5,000' is definitely thinner than here in Michigan at 800'.

Didn't break any speed records. It was really humid. Tried to push myself to go faster than normal. That worked for about 5 miles. Ended up walking some. Still 3 minutes faster than last year, but 2 minutes slower than 2 years ago when I was getting in shape for first elk hunt.

Running a 7 mile trail race next weekend. I'll try to run a lot before that and then try to mostly backpack before opening day.

You hunting in Idaho this fall or just out there? We will be in SE Idaho.

I'm not going elk hunting this fall but I have been running close to 20 miles a week for a challenge at work

I am hunting Idaho this fall. We leave September 16th and will be in camp by noon on the 18th for 10 days in the Beaverhead unit.
I use to live out there in my teen years and have 2 sisters and my Dad still out there. Dad turned 80 on Friday so my wife and I flew out to celebrate with him for a long weekend.

I helped tackle a 120lb pig on Friday. I'm not sure how that's helpful for hunting season... But when was the last time one of you guys tackled a pig?? Lol

If nothing else, I should have some pork to mix with my venison for sausage. :)

I worked an exceedingly long day and prior 3 weeks. I saw a deer at the feeder tonight...does that count for anything?

    I didn't think so either.
