Ok, I am only on page 67 of this thread and I am a newbie to this site, but is it 2016 YET? Only 631 days for this event again. I wanna come to this as well as my 2 cousins, son and his buddy. Can we PLEASE be invited?
Alright...fund started...gear research started....hoping on 2016...but make sure we keep this going because I've circled 2018 as a MUST happen excluding the end of time occurs. I have zero clue on Elk but I cannot help but want to give it go and this camp sounds way too good to not do it! Sat and read the whole update part of the threads for like the 3rd time...just awesome.
It is a very intriguing offer. Does this happen every year? If so, I might have to start saving some money!

Believe me 2018 is happening no doubt...I hope I'm ready by 2016 though too! My problem is getting all the necessary gear....this style of hunting is not one I've not done first hand. Need proper/good packs, much better mummy sleeping bag, tent, proper hiking boots, high quality rain gear and much more....this will all add up to being pretty salty. I may start seeking advice from you guys on gear selection in the coming months...think I wanna get a solid daypack first as to be able to load it up and do a ton of practice hiking over the coming year before making the trip. How much overnight spike camping happens fellas? Also I have NEVER hunted Elk....if I don't get a buddy or two to go that has experience I may need to just be pointed in the right direction at least haha!
Yeah I've heard to plan on spending the most money on the boots, the sleeping bag and the backpack. Those 3 things make or break ya when doing this style of hunting. So if you have a cot you can just set up in a spot in a main tent I'm assuming from what you said? Also doing research on boots, what's worked well for you dan?
Ya we just had cots lined up in 2 of the 3 tents. As for boots I lovey Merell Phaserpeaks. You don't need a super expensive pair but they need to be broken in. I just went to bass pro and scheels and tried on every hiking boot they had. I think I had 12 pairs or more stacked beside me. I just went with what felt the best. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good deal...got a few places I can go and do a bunch of that too. I've read if dry a lightweight pair of hiking shoes isn't a bad idea too...true? Man I've got gear lists started, already planning heavier arrow set up....aaaah at this rate 2016 may happen. :D OTC tag price was like $600 right for bull elk?

Yea you was a good fitting lightweight, non insulated, and waterproof hiking boot. Heavy arrows are good too. I'm sitting at just over 500 grains. On my list for next trip is a new backpack, my own gps unit, a backpacking tent and possibly 2nd pair of boots. I used a daypack last year and the one I used was just too small. I believe it was 1900 cubic inches. My boss let me borrow it. I'm looking into the Tenzing 5000 for my pack. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
