I know they have elk in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Tennessee. I know Kentucky has a draw hunt for them. I don't know about the other states.

Could always drive and meet up with someone going to Colorado next year. Quite a few guys go to a camp in Colorado (including Matt, bz711). The camp is hosted every other year!

Been practicing everyday getting ready for our elk hunt this September. Me and my brother DIY OTC and neither of us could be more excited. My max shot would be probably 40 if it was a "quick" shot but if everything was right possibly to 60.

My best advice for first time elk hunters besides the usual get in shape, have the right gear, and practice shooting would be to make sure you go with people you know you will get along with. Unless, you feel confident and comfortable enough to hunt solo. I wish I would have had a gps with me as well. If I would've had a gps with me I would've felt more confident to roam the mountain by myself. If I go again I'll have more confidence as well just from the experience I gained from my first trip. Also, always have enough gear on you to be able to spend the night on the mountain and signal for help if need be. I.e. Space blanket, Vaseline soaked cotton balls, a way to start a fire, first aid kit, and rain gear. You may never need any of these items, but having them with you will add confidence to hunt further from camp as well.
