So, on thursday I had my sinuses root-rootered, fixed my deviated septum, took out nasal polyps and cleared out a lifelong (literally) sinus infection. I've always snored really bad (as many forum members will attest to) and I've never been able to breathe through my nose, I didn't know that it wasn't normal as that's how I got along my entire life. Anyway, I had the surgery done on thursday and everything went well. Not really much pain just the inconvenient bleeding, drainage, etc. If anyone ever decides to do this, my one tip... it get your nose hairs hard waxed. 3 seconds of sting is way better than having the real sensitive hairs stuck to your gauze every couple hours :D Fast-forward to today. My left nostril felt sore, like I had a pimple or in-grown hair or something just wasn't right. I turn on all the lights and I'm in there checking it out and I find the culprit, a nose hair that was like extra stiff, thick and quite tender to the touch. It was right there on the inside, you know the spot, the one that makes your eyes water just thinking about pulling a hair there, a real tear jerker. It took me a little bit to get the courage up to do it and if it hadn't been early on saturday morning, I might have tried a cocktail to settle me down. Anyway, I clamped down on the tweezers and on the count of three, I yanked hard. My eyes watered and the blood begin to flow but the thick hair held fast like a mighty oak. So, I clamped down a little harder and gave her another go... More pain, no gain. I choked down a little bit on the tweezers, it's personal now. One, two, three... rip! Out it comes. Immediately I'm overcome with a sense of accomplishment. I look down to examine the hair and realize the reason that hair wasn't coming out... was because it wasn't a hair at all... I just ripped out the stitches I didn't know I had.
I feel your pain! I had a deviated septum for as long as I could remember. My parents took me to speech therapists as a kid because I wasn't using my nose when I talked so it sounded like I muttered all the time. I got very frustrated with them for putting me through all that when I knew I wasn't muttering and couldn't breathe through my nose whatsoever. I ended up having a 98% blockage in one side. Surgery was miserable since they had to remove the bone spur and reconstruct the passages. I also fell victim to the painful stitches. They never told me and I was constantly yanking on them to try to relieve the pain. It's amazing once you can be able to breathe with your nose. Makes life much easier! Ouch that sucks. I pulled some stitches out once and it was not fun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was laughing my butt off after reading that story... then realized - I have an upcoming appointment with the ENT Doctor later this month for my ears and deviated septum. OUCH!
Dubbya, man I hope your quality of life improves after suffering for so long. I broke my nose at 15...bad. My septum was deviated for a long time until I was boxing one day in my late 20's and my friend pretty much corrected my septum for me with two short left hooks. hahaha
That sounds so painful... I'm sorry, but I laughed so hard after reading it. Something I could see myself doing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've got a deviated septum and broke my nose twice so it's all kinds of messed up. Been putting off getting it fixed for a long time, but the snoring is driving my wife nuts and the sinus issues are driving me nuts so probably going to have to get something done. Hope you heal up.
I had it done about 5 years ago and you're right the nose hair thing sucked. I stopped snoring for a year then back to normal.
Hope you are on the road to recovery. Glad everything went well with the exception of hair misidentification.
