Why not just put cheap sunglasses on the dead deer, that will give the tourists something to chuckle about rather than being appalled by a corpse on the shoulder of the road. Better yet leave the deer lay and hit the wolves that come to feed on the road kill.

Cops/patrolmen are already drawing pay...most of the time for sitting in their car driving anyway...just saying.
I kept the buck I hit this year and have the steaks and ground meat in the deep freezer. I like the idea of "you hit it, you own it" but I have a feeling a lot of people will not want to have anything to do with a deer, let alone a dead deer.
I agree, but you hit it you own it means you pay for it to get removed then. Drive away? Hit and run.
We make people pay to repair road signs if they hit them. It would be easy to fix the whole problem. Don't like that idea on paying $24? Drive slower and more careful.
There is no possible way to avoid all deer collisions. Bill the state if you want to bill anyone. They claim ownership any other time. But, to say that driving slower and more careful would eliminate your chance of hitting a deer is a fallacy. We pay claims on a regular basis where deer literally run out of the ditch into the side of the vehicle. No way you can avoid that. And, no need to further penalize someone that just got jacked up by a deer.

In some western states they reimburse for your comprehensive deductible up to a specified amount. So, in a way, some states do take responsibility for the damage caused.
In Utah, if you go plowing through a herd of wild critters or splatter an individual big game animal due to negligent driving, you can be fined for destruction of wildlife. But taking roadkill home with you is difficult to impossible. Go figure.
