Talked with an Amish buddy that says there's a flock that has been hanging out constantly behind his barn 'twix there and the mountain. Says the boys are fannin' and that I may hunt there anytime (albeit season does not open 'til 5/1 ). I'm going to set up my blind a couple of days early and then sneak in there mornings (in NY we can only hunt 'til noon). It's about a 3/4 hour drive to get to his place. Hope to get it done early in the season.

We have our learn to hunt this weekend. We have been involved for the past 5 years and are super excited. Trevor will be taking out an older male, he used to sell Trevor tools when he was a mechanic! Small world. We are going for supper tonight with a film crew that will be following Trevor and his hunter this weekend. Looks to be nice weather for the hunt this weekend, unlike the last 2 years. Keep your fingers crossed that Trevor can get his hunter on a bird!

That's SWEET Dunlap! I want a NoCam. Super jealous! Just can't afford it right now. The gray colored NoCam is super cool.

Update - Although the birds are going crazy on the roost there is little action once they hit the ground. May be a tad early. Also been fighting high winds here. It's just my luck my wife had to go on a business trip this week so no turkey hunting for me this week unless I want to get a late start. I might try to sneak into a couple of fields later in the morning and kill a mid day bird. Seems to me most my kills occur late morning or early afternoon anyway.

Yeh, I like my stuff to be a little different then everyone else. I always go two tone. Last bow was a black riser with camo limbs. I was thinking about a stone colored riser with black limbs...

That would be cool. I got the tactical no cam and think I'm going to put lost camo parts on it. Never seen it done but I'm sure there are people who have.

My cast has been removed. My bow is getting new limbs put on it right now, so I'm hopeful that I'll be able to start shooting next week. I'm ready to sling some arrows.

I actually had surgery on my wrist and it was immobilized for the past couple weeks. It's still pretty sore and am working on getting my flexibility back.

No, I just had the lamination coming off of my top limb. I'm just having some new ones put on.

That normally indicates that the hens are roosting near the gobblers and going straight to them off the roost. That's why they shut up soon after hitting the ground and don't have to move around much. Late morning and evening hunting can be really good when that is happening. Good luck!

True but I am still seeing huge groups of birds and they are all roosting together. Hens, jakes, and Toms. Like a winter pattern. Bizarre!
