Net neutrality is a good thing. It is a government regulation that is required due to crony capitalism. Seriously. As a libertarian, I should hate it, but since the government already messed up the internet by creating the huge internet provider monopolies, it is a much needed regulation.

In this case, it protects the consumer from the companies. Governing an Internet speed could easily be used for a political or economic edge and although it's scary to give the government the keys to most things, there's no other entity that is fit to handle it.

I just assume that people against net neutrality have no idea what it actually means

I'm not watching all of those videos. Could you sum up why you think it is bad? Or the points that those videos make?

    Thanks.

I just watched the first video.

It was so incredibly wrong on so many levels. Wow. That guy was absolutely clueless.

Yes. The free market created the internet, but the free market did not create the internet infrastructure. Crony capitalism did. The government created these service provider monopolies. So yes, net neutrality is a regulation protecting the consumer from the monsters that the government help create. It had to be done though.

All I know or care is that the wifi at home costs me $100 per month if my bill goes up $10 a month because of net neutrality I am against it.

Yeah probably right the gov't would never form an agency then establish a fee or a surcharge that is added to a communications service contract, I must be out of my mind.

It is simply a reclassification as the internet back to a Title II classification, like it was a decade ago. In 2005, the government re classified the internet to Title I to deregulate the market so the internet and ISPs could grow. But due to crony capitalism, this backfired and created these massive monopolies that actually stifled any and all competition.

Now this new ruling is simply reclassifying the internet back to its 2005 classification.

The internet is not a free market right now. The ISPs have grown so big and killed all competition (due to crony capitalism) that is killed the free market. What caused this reclassification was the ISPs were starting to throttle speeds of its consumers and increase prices. And they could do it because they have no competition.

    This about sums it up.^^

The only one thing I would add is that our government corporate complex hedged their bets on this. you will likely see qusi corporate partnerships circumvent the regulations as the same companies lobbied both sides to include regulatory loop holes.

Both parties are totally beholden to the entrenched bureaucracy and corporate interests. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.

Why is it bad? In your own words.

Net neutrality does not mean that the government will run the internet.
