Now this is something I would enjoy watching very much! Although since you are an undercover PETA agent you would miss on purpose.

 

Interesting on bullet selection, I to sport a 1 in 7 twist barrel and have told my little times the heavier bullets will shoot better. I'll find out this week when my shipment of 50gr, 55gr, 69gr and 75gr come in and I can do a test. So far I have only shot American eagle 50gr tipped varmints and they were surprising shooting very well. About 1.25" at a 100 yards. I'll add I'm running a 1-4x optic so accuracy won't be quite up to par with what the gun can actually do.

Mountains are tough without snow. I couldn't imagine hunting them with snow. I would probably have many injuries lol.

 

That's the general logic. Slow twist~ light bullets. Fast twist~ heavy bullets. Because heavy bullets will be moving slower, they need a faster spin to stabilize.
Bottom line is the rifle. Only it knows what it will like or not. I tried several different weights out of ours and wound up finding them liking the 50gr Barnes varmint grenades!

So because Im uneducated on the topic Im curious, why is .223 the main choice for coyote hunters? Just because its the main AR platform and available ammo? Seems like something like .243 or .204 would be better choices. Flatter shooting would come in handy for sure, and something like a .243 you could do more use for more then just coyotes. And even most of the decent bolt action rifles for varmints seem to be .223 or have that as an option. So was just curious why.

 

Cheap to shoot, effective, and minimal damage to fur. That's what I would guess. And they can shoot a good distance.

 

I think that pretty much covers it. A lot of people use a 22-250 also.
A 204 is a sweet round. But it loses K.E. very quickly.
.243 would punch through them and do more pelt damage if you're worried about that.
All I've ever shot them with is a 12ga slug (during deer season in Illinois) or a .270 win.
I have yet to connect with my 223.

 

Those American Eagle's shoot really good out of the TC. Also the Hornady soft points shoot real well.

 

22-250

 

Have put this on here couple times, Savage model 11 22-250, shoot Hornady 50 grain vmax. Only taken 2 or 3 coyotes with it so far bit haven't had rifle long and haven't went much. Will start to go alot more soon though. Need to take it out and shoot more with it, I'm very curious what it's capable of. At 100 yard can shoot a 3 shot group that's only about a nickel to quarter sized spread.

Also have a AR take out some not very often.

 

Cause ARs are Bada$$ and fun to shoot. I justify the purchase by saying it's gonna be my "coyote" rifle.

I built this one for Coyote hunting, though I also have a nice 18" AR with a scope. I also have a .243 setup but love having 20 round mags in my AR.

 

So what grain bullets are you guys using with the 25-06? I have a buddy that deer hunts with this gun and he loves it. Thinking of getting one myself.

What kind of camera mount is that?

As far as yote hunting goes I use my Savage bolt action 308, never had one survive the shot yet!

 

If you search frugal filmmaker camera stabilizer you will find directions to make it. Just gives you some extra handles to hang on too.
