You are one lucky man. Our season starts early September here in MN and the mosquitos are usually terrible until October.

There was a time this September where I forgot my thermacell and my face net... I was forced out of the stand after an hour. I was in shorts in our yard one day and I kid you not I had 100+ mosquitos on my legs.

I will never go into the woods without it.

Wow that's crazy. Never once had a mosquito problem anywhere in nj. Friends farm in NY is a whole different story.

I vaguely remember mosquitoes, kind of like I sort of remember a thing called humidity. Heh.

    I should sell our thermacells.

My HSS Harness. I left it home one day a few months back and I sat on the ground. I will NEVER take that chance!

Harness and a release are a must. These two pieces of gear should be excluded.

I'd be curious to know how many have tried to shoot their bow without one... Anyone know anyone that forgot their release and hunted anyway? Not I!!!

To this day it completely blows my mind the number of people I run across without a harness. What a bonehead move... Everyone says never to judge a book by the cover. I run across someone hunting from a tree-stand without a harness they lost me before they said hello...

I am totally with you about a release. But if I forgot my harness I would just hunt in the ground.

Good for you for having self discipline. I know I have forgot to lock in a few times over the years and got the willies. Just the other day I was pressed for time, my tree selection was not the best, smooth barked tree and had the platform drop a half in 30 min into the hunt. That half inch just as well been 10 miles. Sends shivers down my spine!

If I am in a tree...my harness, but otherwise, my rangefinder.

I know this is terrible.... But I've never worn a harness in my life. It's something I need to do moving forward.

Man seriously, you should not hunt in a climber again until this is resolved. When I first started hunting over twenty years ago I did not wear a harness, most of us didnt where I hunted. I remember my mother telling me her boss, who was a big hunter, fell like 10-15 feet out his tree while hunting and broke his arm, clavicle, and ribs. That stuck with me and very shortly thereafter I got a harness and have been glued in since.

I know I know. I've got one harness from a $30 stand but have never used it.

To make it a little less painful... Almost all of my hunts this year were out of box stands without a roof and 3 ft walls. Even while bow hunting.

I did hunt out of a ladder stand where I should of wore one tho. And I do regret not getting the HSS deal cabelas had a while back.

It's something I will be using for sure this coming up season.
