Montecs 100 grain. We shot this morning before the hunt. Shooting 60 and 80 yards grouping great with field tips. Switched to broad heads. Broad heads hitting 12" right. Consistent. Switched arrows switched broad heads everything. Field tips dead on broadheads 12" right @ 60 yards. Crap! First time in 5 years this has happened. Must be the rest? Paper tuning coming soon I guess. Sucks I have 3 weeks left of season and I'm doing this sighting crap again. I adjusted the rest slightly left and shot field tip. Field tip tailed bad and went way left. I put it back. I'm baffled. Must be my rest I just don't see it.
I could not get Montecs to shoot in my bow either. Slick tricks, Hellrazers, Grim reapers, Carbon express xt4, and Helix, all shoot to point of aim. Some combinations just don't work.
My only problem with this thought process is that for the last 5 years Montecs have flown great same as field tips.
How you changed poundage or DL recently?Have you spun test your arrows? What do they do at closer yardage?
I wouldn't think a turn or so would make a huge a difference but it could have been the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. Maybe turn it back down and revisit your spine selection.
check your spine and just for poops and giggles move your rest right. I had a simliar issue and when I moved it right the opposite of what traditional tuning dictates it workd. Maybe your torquing your bow harder. check for clearence issues as well
I will try the rest to the right. Maybe. I've been trying rest to the left and it doesn't help. Really gotta paper tune this thing. No lean on the idler. Timing did slip out a tiny bit as indicated by the timing window. Arrows are gold tip expedition hunter 7595 spine of 340 I believe.
What is your: Draw weight: Draw length: Arrow Spine: Arrow length: Tip Weight: Phil should be chimming in any time with the easton archery tuning guide... if not, google the easton archery tuning guide...
That's weird about good flight and then bad flight. When I use Montecs I just put them on and shoot with very good flight, doesn't matter about blade orientation. Wac'ems do the same thing - good flight, no problems.
Z7 Draw length 29.5 Weight darn near 70 Arrow 30" Spine 340 I believe gold tip expedition hunter 7595 100 grain tip
30" 340 spine is under spined for 70# @ 29 1/2" draw. Not saying that if you get everything PERFECT, that it won't tune, just that your on the edge of out of control.
Obviously your strings creeper as evidence by the timing. This can cause contact issues with a rest as well because it throws the timing off on a fallaway.
From what I can tell the expedition hunter 7595 are about the stiffest gold tips available. I would be willing to try different arrows suggestions? I have always shot these and never had a problem. I'm not exactly sure how this spine deal works to be honest but it seems the lower the number the stiffer the arrow. Correct? Timing isn't off that much. I will post a pic of the timing window on my cam
