How'd you make out on your all day sit Joe? I got out Sunday afternoon and took 2 does. While it is nice on one hand, it's also double the work (my first double). Don't think I'll do that again any time soon even if I have the chance. They were in the field together - shot the first one, gathered gear, got out of the blind and the 2nd one was back in the field looking at me. Needless to say, she will not do that again. Dressed at 100 lbs each. End of the week there will be meat in the freezer. Good luck to all.
Remy, were you free of hikers? I had a baseball game going on behind me for part of my hunt. That was ok, but the damn ice cream truck music about drove me crazy! Same ditty for over an hour.............Glad I was able to kill something a short time later!

Yeah I had nobody walk in on me Saturday morning. Ended up getting a doe at about 0710 hours. Accidentally spine shot her and had to put another in her to finish her off. I hope that never happens to me again. I spent all Saturday processing her. She wasn't a bad sized doe for my area. Got 35# of meat from her. [IMG]

Here's the bacon wrapped backstraps I grilled up Sunday evening. [IMG]

NICE!!!! Congrats, i can only imagine twice as much work!! I got a doe on opening afternoon! I went out this past saturday in the tree by 345am hoing to beat a buck to the oak grove. I did, but he came through 15-20 minutes prior to legal shooting light. They are hammering acorns like crazy now.

    Nice job guys!
Remy - those backstraps look great! Yeah, that 2nd shot situation is never pleasant. Have only had one myself, and it was not something I want to do again.
Joe - did you use an axe to make that exit cavity?
Ty - Sorry about that unicorn image now stuck in your head. That's not good. LOL
    Continued success to all.

VT Bow opener today. Deer, Bear and Turkey on the menu. Those back straps looked awesome in bacon.

Mid day hunt today. Been getting photos 1100-1400. So gonna try it. Had a buck behind me at 40 yes last weekend but no shot through the foliage. Congrats on all the deer.

Been hunting from the ground today. Saw 3 does of at about 80 yards this morning. Found a fresh scrape and am sitting off of that for the rest of the day. Sure hope something comes to check it out.

Headed to NJ today. Being told the rut is just kicking in. Temps supposed to plummet for the weekend. Can't wait to lay out some mock scrapes and do some rattling and grunting. Getting into that Awsome time of the hunting season over the next 10 days. Good luck everyone!

I'm hoping to get out this weekend. Have errands to run in the AM but hoping the weather holds out to make an evening sit possible.
