This is a public land stop that gets moderate to heavy use from hunters and non-hunters. This last weekend I went out scouting to try and find a buck to shoot with my bonus buck tag. Most of the hunting action is south of where I found the buck to be bedding. I almost gave up then I found a set of tracks and followed them, I went both ways to see where he was going. Anyway when I found his bed it overlooks the parking area for the only entry point within 1.5 miles either way but with it being public land I would think he would be use to seeing people there and I could walk through without him bumping out.

Here's the problem I can make it out tomorrow afternoon and I have a South to Southwest wind Where do I hang the stand? There is 1 obvious spot close to the where he crosses the trail by the private land but I might have to contend with people there. On the other side of the private might be too far away depending on when he leaves his bed.

    What do you think?

I thought setting up on the north side of where his trail and the black private line parallel each other. That SW possibility with the wind is brutal for his course of travel.

That's kind of where I was thinking if he's on his feet early enough he might make it there in daylight.

I agree with this. Daylight will be the big key.
    Good luck.

You only have one chance to hunt this? With that entry point and what you see as his travel route, that has to be the worst wind combination you can get.

Biggest question now would be, do you have permission to access the private land for recovery purposes if something worked out?

Why not that little finger of woods or any of the inside corners? You said it had heavy foot traffic, not sure of the use as you said non hunters as well.

Might be one of those caution to the wind last attempts, or wait it out until you get a favorable wind.
