<br />
A little brief update (as perhaps seen on other forums)...  I was &quot;gifted&quot; a used 2017 Mission by Mathews compound bow, 52# draw, 29&quot; draw length, by an old USCG buddy of mine.  It all started from me joking on social media (Facebook) about Cabela&#039;s and wandering into the archery dept.  Righthanded, righthanded, righthanded, this &#039;n this &#039;n that... I joked...<br />

   In 1963 at 16 years old, I was a bowling pin spotter at the local Elks club earning $2.50- 3.00 3 x a week.<br />
Had the catalog picture on the wall<br />
of the Fred Bear Grizzly semi- recurve bow.  Saved up &amp; ordered from my local sport shop In June 63 ...&amp; suggested I order a 42# pull which was good for my build, and more than adequate for hunting. The bow came in late July 63.<br />
It was magnificent ...since my first bow was the $14.00  black fox with a white rubber handle.  I paid $42.95...<br />

I became aware of bow hunting in 2019 at an outdoor trade fair. Was fun shooting with a compound on 3D targets. So I joined an archery club and trained archery, first with a Recurce bow, later with a compound bow - which I personaly prefer. After this first contact with archery my interest for bow hunting returned. <br />
Since that I made my hunting license – which btw, is a time consuming process here in Germany – trained a hunting dog and „learned“ to hunt with a rifle. Finaly...<br />

As years went by I bought a Browning recurve, maybe 50#, and still no clue.  When I was about 26 I bought a second hand Bear Whitetail Hunter. Sights and the whole nine yards.       <content:encoded><![CDATA[So I treated myself to a beautiful Mathews Halon in 2018 tricked out, good stabilizer, sight, quiver, good shafts and tips, release, case....Spent way too much (close to 1700) but the wife said it was a go! (good woman). Anyway, I had a massive rotator cuff tear very shortly afterward and I still cant draw and hold it enough to shoot. It only has maybe 20 shots total on it. I need to sell it (crying because I know I will lose my A) and get a crossbow, but not sure how much I could sell it...<br />

A year ago in August the wife and I were sitting in the garden after sunset, watching the fire burn, when a couple forked-horn bucks and a doe strolled into the yard and started grazing about 50 feet away, paying no attention to us.<br />

Have bow hunted whitetails since 1973, first 8-10 harvests were with recurve, now use compound exclusively.<br />
Tried a crossbow briefly, killed two deer.  Too easy, no more of that till I can&#039;t pull a bow.<br />
Majority of archery deer hunting takes place in IN and IL where we have properties.<br />
<br />
Also enjoy firearms hunting and have traveled the country extensively and harvested quite a few different critters in a bunch of different states.   Enjoy...<br />
