Anyone is welcome to join us for the potential 2014 Public Land hunt/camp/friendship thing some of us have expressed interest in doing in the fall. I am not looking to kill a monster buck, just looking to put an arrow into something and enjoy a hard hunt with a good group of guys/gals. Carpooling would be cool and anyone that is coming from the DC Metro area or anywhere else is more than welcome to park their vehicle at my house so we can carpool and save gas $$$.

I'm in 100%. We had a blast last year.

5 solid days of hunting would be great. I am thinking Sat Nov 1[SUP]st[/SUP] to Wed Nov 5[SUP]th[/SUP] or Wed Nov 5[SUP]th[/SUP] to Sunday November 9[SUP]th[/SUP]. If we started on Nov 1[SUP]st[/SUP] that would give us the option to stay on a couple more days if the hunting heats up. That would allow people to spend time with their families on Halloween and to return home and prepare for those magical hunting days of November 10[SUP]th[/SUP]-20th. Of course, people can come and go as they please, coming earlier, staying later, leaving one day and coming back...your life, your choice, no pressure.

Some of the guys from last years get together thought maybe the Wayne National Forest in Ohio would be a great spot for this year. Free camping and an ability to create a good base camp. If the Wayne is not producing, it is close to many other good public hunting grounds within 30-60 minutes to the north. I am open to any other possible location so provide your thoughts and we will seriously consider them.

    So.......

WHEN: Some five to seven day block between Nov 1[SUP]st[/SUP]-9[SUP]th[/SUP]. I am thinking either Sat Nov 1[SUP]st[/SUP] to Wed Nov 5[SUP]th[/SUP] or November 5[SUP]th[/SUP] to Sunday November 9[SUP]th[/SUP].

WHERE: We preferably need a place that allows Sunday hunting.

    WHO: Up to you

The guys that went last year were a bunch of funny talking weirdos who didn't know how to start a fire.

They need a woodsman to help em out ;)

We needed a guy from TX with a blow torch to start a fire for us one night....I am not kidding. The guy busted out an industrial blow torch and pretty much set a forest fire.

Pile wood and strike a road flare. Works every time.

I was just recently checking out public hunting in Ohio and I live in Md. so I might be interested. When is their gun season?

Yep, there will not be any guns going off during the time we are hunting. No blaze orange either which makes me happy.

This year on the Wayne(Nelsonville) it was spotty at best. There were no acorns at all due to a last spring frost from what the locals told us. Spots that I had hunted and had a lot of buck sighting in years past were horrible. We did finally find a few good spots and saw a few bucks but only one I would have shot. I'm hoping this year is better and I will be on the Wayne again, hope to see a few of you out there.

I went to south Ohio a few years ago on public, early november. Just a word of caution check the start dates to rabbit and pheasant seasons, they brought a lot of hunters into the area and made hunting tough.

I'll probably come down for an evening again. Spread the latest Internet hunting forum gossip. I'll make sure to bring Kenze so I don't freeze...
