I am incredibly bummed out today. I just got a picture from a buddy of my target buck, dead. I have been documenting this deer for the last two seasons and I sadly had my mind set on him. I guess I'm happy an archery hunter got him and not a car or a rifle hunter. I'm told the guy is a super nice dude, too.

Here are some pictures I had of him from just a couple weeks ago.

Bummer man. But you're right, its better a archery hunter got him rather than a car or ehd or something else.

That has happened to me too! Sucks! Now do what I did because it made me a new friend. I sent him the video clips and trail cam pics I had of the buck to the guy that killed my target.

How far from the camera pics was he killed? Just wondering about their early season range. Awesome buck for sure.

I emailed him as soon as I found out! He is a guy my buddy shoots league archery with, so I got his info pretty quickly.

I know if I just killed a giant deer, I would love seeing other pics or videos of him.

Here is what I emailed the guy, along with nine pictures of the buck.

I'm not sure yet what he was hunting. I think I know, but I will let you know when I hear back from him.

Sorry to see this Spencer! Just think about how many times that has happened to someone else even though they mostly never know it. That dude had some awesome mass at the base. Keep your head high, there are others out there!

So you didn't want him to say where the pix were but you put it right here on the internet?

Ha, I'm not too worried about anyone from around the area to be on here.

Bummer Boof, he's a dandy buck for sure. I'll bet you have a couple others in that area your after. Did EHD hit again in your part of the state this year?

No EHD over here this year. There are some mature bucks around, but they have been hard to come by. 2012's EHD definitely took its toll on them.

I told one of my buddies that. I won't need to second guess shooting a different buck this year.

I thought that, too. Hopefully one of his other target bucks wanders over towards me.

After reading this sorry sob(snob) story I just want to say - I hope some young kid shoots his first and your next 'target buck' with a rifle. So sad :violin:

I've been hunting with a bow off and on since 28 years ago...just glad I never developed the petty elitist attitude

What? I'm just bummed I didn't get a chance at this buck. I have an "elitist attitude" because of it?
