Not sure yet, talked to my local G&F biologist, hopefully he will have better info for me tonight. Not any deer farms even close as far as I know.... dunno
Nice.... We've had a doe running around here for about 5 years with a yellow tag. Used to be her and a buck but haven't seen the buck. Ive watched her become the dominant doe and we've had our fair share of encounters.
That doe must be causing some problems. I guess she needs a arrow sent her way to teach her a lesson. Sent from my XT901
We'll see but considering my local DNR biologist who happens to also be my neighbor, has already said he is unaware of any current tagging or monitoring activities, I'd be surprised. Either this deer is super old and has been wearin those tags a long time, or it traveled a long way, or it is an escapee from an unknown deer farm and still traveled a long way. Ha ha
I have known cattlemen to throw ear tags in fawns when they come across them. For no good reason other than to do it. A fawn will lay perfectly still as a defense mechanism and they are very easy to tag. One of my clients told me about tagging a buck fawn and said it did not even open its eyes or move when he put the tag in. I asked him why he did it and he said he just thought it would be fun to have a buck running around with an ear tag. Who knows?
Probably a pen raised deer that got the hell out of Wisconsin when she heard they killed Giggles the fawn
