Thermocell? While hunting?

    Okay, it goes against my common sense, but does anyone bowhunt with a thermocell? Bought one for preseason scouting, hanging stands, etc., but I don't think having one in the stand would be wise? I have seen where some have used them while hunting and wanted some expert opinions.

    I wouldn't even consider going in the woods where I hunt without one. No problems with scent...

    I always use mine in the stand, especially during early season. No issues with the odor.

    My buddy I always hunt with won't wear one. I wear until the mosquitos are GONE. I don't think it's hurt my success one iota.

    Unless there is enough breeze to keep bugs down, my Thermacell is on as soon as I nock an arrow.

    I have been using them for almost 7 years now and I have never had an issue with them while hunting. Skeeters are Awful here in NC and I will not go hunting in early season here without it.

    Same here Thermacells are great except one time hunting hogs in the everglades. They just laughed at it. Eventually 4 or 5 came by and flew off with it.

    Skeeters were eating me alive this morning turkey hunting. I grabbed the thermacell and hit the button a few times, nada. Butane was empty, and I had already used my extra in my turkey vest. Skeeters ate well....

    I bought one, but haven't hunted with it yet. I've heard time and again that they work well on skeeters, how about the gnats? Gnats were so bad two seasons ago that I had to wear my head net!

    You're right. It does go against common sense but for some strange reason, they do the job with no effect on hunting.

    Same here. I've had 2 burning while hog hunting in winter in the glades. It didn't seem like they cared. I went home woozy and a couple pints low.

    I hear they work on flying insects but what about ticks? they are in record numbers in our neck of the woods.

    Spray your clothes with permethrin for ticks.
