Man, I hate days like this. A couple weeks ago I hunted in my favorite stand right near two apple trees and saw 10 deer in shooting range. Nothing I wanted, so I let them all walk. Today...deeper into the season...same stand...not one single deer! Sometimes you win...sometimes you spend a lot of time daydreaming in a tree!

I hear ya, I guess that's why they call it hunting and not killing. I wish I could have been sitting in a stand all day rather than in a lecture hall.

Did that for 3 days this last weekend. Drive 2 miles down the road to make a call to the wife and a big 8 standing on the side of the road.

When I pulled out and started driving home...I almost hit a huge doe with my truck! About 1/8 from my stand!! Never fails...

That has been my last 2 hunts. It's been very slow but I'm starting to see a lot of dead deer on the side of the road so that can only mean one thing...

I'm finally starting to see some young bucks chasing, but the mature deer are showing no interest at all yet. Had a young buck push a doe to within 20 yards of a decent 8pt. the 8pt waited for her to get closer, then walked up, checked her out and went back to eating. That was on Sunday night. Hopefully by next week, they will be ready.
