I have read that some of you use scent-free laundry soap all year - like Arm & Hammer. Do you feel these "scent-free" detergents are really scent-free? Last year I used Scent-Killer all season on all my clothes. I'd prefer to use something else if they are scent-free and clean clothes better. Thanks

I use scent free detergent on my hunting clothes. Just bought mine for the season today. I add in some baking soda for good measure.

I use scent free also. I don't have any complaints.

What brand do you use? I'm looking for a "non-hunting" brand people commonly use.

I use hunting scent free for my hunting clothes. I use ALL free and clear on regular clothes. Not sure if free and clear is UV free, and that's why I use hunting style scent free detergent on my hunting clothes. If the cost is the preventing factor, just buy some baking soda and wash your clothes in a box of baking soda.

Todd, great topic to bring up. as well, I'll be tuned in, so that I may discover a cheaper solution for scent free detergents.

    Here are some other tips.

    Instructions
    Things You'll Need
    • Scent-free detergent
    • Scent eliminating spray
    • Garbage bag

    1
Rinse you washing machine out before you put your hunting clothes in the machine. To do this, just run the washer through a rinse cycle.
    2
Wash your hunting clothes with a scent-free detergent to avoid a "fresh laundry" smell.
    3
Hang your hunting clothes out to dry, if possible. If you choose to dry your hunting clothes in the dryer, do not use fabric softener sheets--hang them out to naturally air out after you put them in the dryer.
    4
Put your clean hunting clothes into a scent-free plastic garbage bag immediately after they are washed and dried. A 22-gallon Ziplock bag will work best, but you can use a regular garbage bag.
    5
Spray a scent eliminating or cover up spray into the bag. You can get these sprays at any outdoors store.
    6
Tie or seal the bag tightly to eliminate the possibility of any household scents getting into the bag.
    7
Keep your hunting clothes in the bag until you reach your hunting location. This will help eliminate the transfer of any vehicle odors to your hunting clothes.

    8
If you're using non carbon based clothing you can add some natural forage to your storage bag. I.e. acorns, leaves, pine cones, raccoon pooh, exec....... If your team 22 "The Fuzzy Wissey Bunny Molesters" you should use coyote pooh. Trust me~

Yeah, those vaccum bags are sweet. I have been thinking about getting some. Also, I use the scent free dryer sheets if I have to use the dryer. I also run the dryer with just the dryer sheets for about 15 minutes before putting in my hunting clothes in. I normally hang them out to dry if I have time/right weather though.

I use all baking soda in with the water and set on hand washables. Then let them air dry outside and before putting my clothes back in my scent tote, I sprinkle more baking soda around on my clothes. When I get to the field I shake the clothes really fast and spray down with my vanishing hunter scent eliminator.

make sure wifey isn't perfuming your washer in between your loads!I've gone so far as to do the whole familys laundry so I know its clean and scent free.I start using scent free products at least two weeks prior to hunting season.

I use All free and clear, year round.
growing up we used it because of dry skin/ reactions to perfumes. so i just continue to use it year round, dont have to worry about perfumes being leftover in the washer or dryer, and it seems to work fine for the hunting clothes.

    This is what I use:

http://www.armandhammer.com/fabric-...r-laundry-detergent-perfume-and-dye-free.aspx. I use this on all my clothes. If I have a near empty container, I will mix it 50/50 with regular baking soda as well. I do all the laundry so no worries about what's washed beforehand.

Then, after washing, I dry clothes without a fabris sheet and then put in a plastic tote with baking soda sprinkled over it.

Do you have to worry about the UV stuff with that arm & hammer or the All F&C?
