Wanted to Share this pic of a buck my camera took. I Nick named him SLASH . I'm guessing he was hit by a car. But not certain.
. But they are indeed tough![/QUOTE] Agreed. On my hunting grounds, I have a doe fawn that has the lower front leg swinging as well as what looks to be a 3 1/2 yr old buck that has a bad limp to his hind leg. Trailcam video shows he barely puts pressure on it. Both do not stray too far from the mineral station. I will be very curious to see if they survive winter.......at least it has been mild here with very little snow so far.
Straight line like that I'd say it was more likely a grazing shot wound than a car; but any way you slice it (see what I did there?) it sure is a nasty looking hole and it will be interesting what effect it will have on his antlers next season.
I wouldn't call him tough yet, post up some pics next year with a healed up scar. Then he's tough. He's got a long way to go with that wound. Every time he beds, runs, jumps a fence etc. It is going to stretch and reopen. Bad location. Hope he makes it, but infection is almost a certainty.
it is amazing how they immediately get on the minerals after an injury. it's like they know what they need to help the healing process.
