What are some of the Deer hunting traditions that ya'll have when someone kills their first deer? I know we cut the tail off the deer and give it to the person that shot it but I was curious what ya'll do.

It may sound crazy or cliché but for my first whitetail kill. My father and uncles made me take a bite of the heart. Didn't have to swallow it or anything just tear a bite off with teeth then spit it out. Then my dad dipped his fingers in the blood and wiped a line on my cheek.

Usually try to get the person to do something, but usually is something that is going to push the persons limits. We aren't that nice I guess.

I know of a person that was told that it is bad luck on your first buck kill to not take a bite of the testicles. Sadly enough the guy believed it.

My dad's buddies got me drunk. 12 years old.

I didn't do that to my son.

A streak of warpaint on your face from the blood of the deer.

Hanging tentacles from a tree is pretty common around here.

Nobody in my family really deer hunted, so I'm the first. I get to decide the tradition

This what we have always done. And of course they have to field dress it.

My dad swiped blood across my forehead and cheeks. He made me keep it on there when we went to Hardee's for breakfast and the check station to check him in. I don't know which of us was more proud of that "war paint".

We had to do a "gut pile boogie" (dance over the guts of your first deer). Nothing too special but it's better than what the elders tried to convince us that we had to do - which I won't say.

Blood on face. Have heard about drinking blood but dragging the deer out and blood on face is common.

You have to gut it out yourself lol. As well as drag it back to the Cabin.
