Mineral block

Has anyone ever had a mineral block/salt lick moved 40 ft? Northern Ohio.

 

not personally but I've heard of it. especially when they get smaller

 

This was a first for me. I'd guess around a 35 lb. block that hadn't really been touched. So I'd say still around 30lbs. I had a camera on it but it malfunctioned.

 

I've had one get moved close to 20' from coons, more than likely a squatch if it's over 40..

 

I would say a bear did that. I've seen a bear knock a 50lb salt lick around like it was nothing.

 

Yes, I had a mineral block get picked up by a bear and moved further than that. Caught 1 picture of it pushing it with its paw, so to answer your question they can be moved.

 

This is Ohio so not sure a bear did it. I was thinking coon. But hoping it was typical of a mature whitetail. Haha thanks guys!

Yeah coons will roll them around. Had some video of them playing with it one night. Then they got bored and never touched it again. If you are having issues with deer hitting the mineral block try pouring molasses over it. Coons will hit it too but deer should too.

 

I had deer move a block about 30 feet before playing with it, and also had coons take all the corn out of a bump feeder and pile it up in pile about 10 feet away from the feeder. The camera crapped out on me and that one really messed with me for a time. I thought someone was in there messing with me but nope, put a working camera on it and watching those pesky Lil coons take about 40 lbs. of corn out and pile it up 10 feet away. Animals do some strange things sonetimes.....

I bought a 30lb acorn block that screws to a stump or side of tree I don't know why I bought it even it was like 25 bucks
but I screwed it to a tree came back the next week only thing left was the hardware that you skrew to the tree.

Checked the cam 10 mins after I put it out and walked away a bear came up and ripped it off and took it away

bears do it around here all the time...

 

In east KY I've seen bears do that. I've also seen them dismantle a feeder and drag it around.

 

Coons mess with mine a lot. Had to dig small hole for mine to sit in.
