Past few years have been great where I hunt....then last year I wasn't getting many pics/vids and long sits with I wasn't seeing many deer at all. Seems this was what a lot of us had happen in 2015 How do you think this year will shape up ? Thoughts---predictions ??
I believe so. In my area, there wasn't as many yotees this years and the property was not hunted in the gun season except by me and I only took one. (gun season can be devastating when greedy trespassers drive them like rabbits)
I only hunted once last year for about an hour and a half, if I have to redouble my efforts next fall it will still be good.
Well, we couldn't have had a more mild winter (except for one blizzard), so it should be a good season numbers wise. We'll see.
Everything looking good at my place. We decided not to take anything we wouldn't put on the wall last season because of low count. It seems to have paid off so far. Getting alot of pics. Now just have to hope the yotes don't kill the fawns.
I think so too. Every year won't be a banner year. But, I think we can all do things to help increase our odds.
The past 4 years have been tough hunting for me, the 5 years prior I was killing a deer every year, sometimes multiple. Some of the bad hunting can be attributed to the odd weather but I can* think of at least one time each season I wasn't in the stand when I should have been and a buck was either on camera or leaving a nice rub just feet from my stand. Whether it was due to work or just taking the wrong week of vacation, the deer are there, but just as everything there are ups and downs.
This is why I asked...I only been running a few cams for a few years and now really get into seeing what's there, then last season It was the same all over with everyone I talked to.."not much happening" I did see a few, mostly yearlings, until the one in my avatar walked in at 20' (but I didn't see or hear him until that point) Just popped up, LOL. 192# dressed 8point..how do you not see So I did well filling the freezer anyway...years pass I been blessed to take a few per season. Don't get me wrong...I loved getting that big one, but love seeing a lot too
Mild winter here and does are just starting to drop fawns so we'll have to see what else survived but I'm thinking that it's going to be a good one for sure.
We've had rain almost like we did last year. Everything is green and very thick. Heck, our soybeans are 6-8" tall already. I'm optimistic though. I believe every year will be awesome!!!
Where I was it wasn't great b/c it was so mild and deer weren't moving as much as you'd want. Who knows what the weather will bring this year. Remember 70 degrees on Thanksgiving?
Last year was good, I camped out last week at my site, on the last day I had a procession of eight dear, two of them were bucks.
It has been really wet here in Oklahoma should be good for the deer with lots of food and cover. I am worried it will be like a few years ago here there will be alot of food and the deer will not have to move alot. This is great for the deer but makes hunting them tough.
