My nephew shot a solid 10 point in 2014

After 14 months...first issue...he got his buck back

The jaw is weak looking...the nose is short and skinny and the skull doesn't look set right...anyone have any thoughts?

This guy has done some excellent work, won awards and I have never seen him do a mount like this

The mount looks just like the first picture of the "dead" deer.
No life in the mount. Ears need to be moved for starters.

Here's another....this one looks OK...you can see the lines in his muzzle from the fighting ....he had all sorts of wound and scars.

To me the ears look a little on the big side. They kind of take away from the rack.
    Really nice buck!

Other then the ear position being set way wide the mount looks like the deer in the pictures. Don't take this the wrong way but the deer ( deer not the rack) just isn't that good looking, kind of plain and "dull" I think the mount captured that.

Kind of looks like the form was too small causing the hide to bunch up on the face. Even looks like it covered the antler bases.

Maybe I'm nuts, but it looks fine to me. He just wasn't the Mario Lopez of the deer world. lol

I wonder if he has an intern or someone working with him who could have done it? Definitely doesn't look like an award winning mount and a true taxidermist should make all mounts look top notch, not just the ones he is entering.

Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. The hair around the antler is just like in the original pic, and those marks on the nose are fighting scars, not bunching of the hide. Anyway, it's not like you can send it back. lol

Was kinda my thought. Old fighters will not make beautiful mounts sadly. I also think his eyes may be just a tick off for whatever reason, no clue...but the ears are the only thing that Jumps at me...even then not too terribly bad.

Heavy winter capes are hard to get a lot of good detail out of. I really don't see major issues. Narrow racks make setting the ears a bit of a challenge. I think its a good looking buck.

Seems like the eyes have a bit of a "squint".

I'm not a fan of the bright and shinning noses that some do like this. The lower black lip looks a little to big. The deer skull in the killed pictures look a lot bigger than the actual skull mount.

I think your nephew killed a buck that is bigger than anything you have ever killed and you're jealous. :tu:

All kidding aside, looks good to me.

That's it! He's missing the Cheetos dust around the mouth. Fixed!
